Re: Real Ginger Beer Plant

Is anyone still supplying cultures of GBP? I'd love to make some for the kids and hopefully just in time for the festive season. :santa: If not, does anyone know of a supplier? I can find plenty of suppliers of "ginger beer kits" which contain the instructions and ingredients for the yeast based pla...

I can only find the kits or soap suppliers who don't end up being frugal! TY I got the instructions...

Hello Peggy Sue.

That's great, thank you very much!

I was in Wilko's this morning and actually bought Lobjoits Green Cos (Johnsons seeds. £1.25). I was debating getting the All Year Round which was sitting next to it :) I will go back and get them now and look out for the rest.

Thanks Ellendra! After looking at those recipes I think I'll try to grow them instead of digging them out. All I need to do now is figure out how to stop the OH attacking them with a lawn mower...

I put a really thick layer of compost on it in the autumn. When I saw the usual couch shoots peeping through I went to dig them up before the asparagus puts growth on. I found that they`d just grown through the top layer of the compost and I could just lift out the creeping roots, growing tips and ...

Saying Hi!

Well, I've been lurking around for some time now (yes that was me :tongue1: ). I eventually joined the forum at the end of last year but recently started to post so thought I'd better come here and say hello :) I've hung around that long that I feel I know the regular posters already and should than...

Hi, I'm not an expert but have lots of couch grass. I'm not lucky enough to have an allotment; I'm on the waiting list but at the current rate it will be about 7 years before I have one. According to the RHS, you can use a glyphosate weedkiller that is quite effective on couch grass (http://www.rhs....

I thought that male urine was better on compost heaps because it`s easier for them to be unobtrusive. Just aim and fire rather than clamber up and squat. Haha! Very good ;) As to the dandelions, I now have more of those than grass. Neither the chickens nor the tortiose can keep up with them. ...

The one I have never had success with is marrow wine - tastes like old socks smell, so don;t bother with that. I'm reading this sipping my 3rd glass of the evening of my own marrow wine. It was my first venture into making wine a couple of years ago and hated it. I also made damson at the time and ...
