Re: The Raised Vegetable Bed Handbook

Thanks Green Aura I enjoyed putting it together. I learnt a lot too. I'd recommend putting an e-book together if you have an interest in any topics. It can be a bit daunting at first with the pdf's, epubs etc, but it's well worth the effort. If I can be of assistance to anyone starting on the e-book...

The Raised Vegetable Bed Handbook

"What an enjoyable e-book that Ian Gomersall has written! If you have any interest in growing your own, The Raised Vegetable Garden Handbook is a book you'll love. It is definitely the most complete book that I have seen on vegetable gardening, and especially, the raised vegetable garden. The ...

Re: I want to start a raised bed for veg

Hi I started with raised beds a few years ago and had such a success with them that now the whole garden is full of them. The need not be expensive as you can make them out of local materials. I have been so impressed wit the crops that I decided to write a book on the subject. 'Raised Vegetable Bed...

Re: Organics.ie website

Well, it's been two years since I set the Organics.ie website up.... It was a bit of a flop really... more down to my lack of time building the site up and contacting organic companies. The project was a bit too big ( I was trying to be all things to all (organic) people) so I have decided to set up...

Uses for old CD's

I don’t know about you but we are getting more and more free CD’s given to us with newspapers and magazines. I have mentioned before that they make great bird scarers if they are tied up and left to flap about in the wind. I have been asking around and built up a bit of a collection of other uses fo...

Re: Broccoli

Hi You can munch the separating ones straight away....The others sound like they are ready too. It sounds like you have the early variety calibrese, which are like the type you get in shops, if you pinch the heads off you will get smaller ones growing with small fresh leaves... these will be delicio...

Re: Allotment Advice :)

Hi I like the idea of micro allotments....If you can wheel the barrow to it to collect your veggies then that's perfect. The idea of utilizing a neglected area or even getting together with locals to take over a neglected large private garden locally is a good idea...although the legals would have t...

Re: Woody vegetables

Hi Cochlear

It sounds to me that you need to take advanage of growing your own and eat them earlier. It's a real treat that we don't have to wait until they are shop size to pick and eat them....delicious.....Sow in succession for a long season....

cheers

A LOT of Stewarts

Hi

I was at the Annual Sheep Shearing Festival in Burt, Inishowen, County Donegal Ireland yesterday and found that because of a small typo on their jackets there were a LOT of Stewarts around........

Re: Got my Allotment, need some advice

Hi Jared. Great looking piece of ground... it might be fair to say there hasn't been many chemicals on that land for a while..... I lived in Nottingham for a few years near the Mapperley allotments. It's a fantastic place and people have actually started to live there nearly full time. It is a great...

Re: Teen's attempt to brighten things up

Hi Shirley. A wet paint sign would have ruined the fun......Someone else mentioned the same name for the ride as you... maybe we just made up that name ourselves, googling it is quite interesting though .......The woman said that they used to sit on top of the Witches hat and see how long they could...
