44: Getting to swap my never-used George Foreman grill for a big bag of clothes for the sprog and a potty. (And we are the delivering types too - we went for years without a car and know how hard it can be for people with small children to travel large distances on public transport, so as long as we...

26: Clean out your cupboards and freecycle half your belongings. I've just done this and now I feel great! 27: Turn off the TV and all the lights when it gets dark, light some candles and tell scary stories 28: Have you got small children? Nothing beats making a HUGE duvet tent in your living room a...

Really good point, Red. What we need, though, is for the ready-meal / convenience market to look at the issue of farming methods too - in my opinion, Greggs (and other bakers) should be offering Free Range Chicken pasties and pies; ready-meals should be readily available in free range varieties too ...

With regards to the people who say that free-range is too expensive - we've been chatting about it in toddler group today and I was astounded by the amount of people who feel it is too pricey but think nothing at all of buying take-away meals twice a week, four 2 ltr bottles of Coke and multipacks o...

Yes Red, I noticed that particular piece of bandwagon jumping too. Not only coninciding with the current trend for food production programmes, but also conveniently the day before Brown announces the go-ahead for more nuclear power.... As for free-range, yes it IS expensive for many families, mine i...

I honestly don't know what I thought of it.... I've not eaten red meat for 20 years and, having procured a few rather nice cookbooks I HAD been toying with the idea of starting again....but now I think not. The only bit that upset me was those wee goats skipping happily to their deaths - as soon as ...

Yep, Ellis (20 months) doesn't get the 'pushing it along himself' bit, either! Best toys he's had... - The wooden blocks from ELC - A hand-me-down Fisher Price garage - A hand-me-down Playskool workbench - Tupperware boxes, saucepans and wooden spoons from my cupboards Worst toys he's had... - A tru...

That's the thing though, isn't it? Apart from teething / diet changes / illness then the major cause of nappy rash is the chemical combination of the poo and the wee combined in the same nappy. Luckily, Ellis is prone to the most stinky poos known to humanity that even obliterate the scents put in b...

Back to the original Huggies rant....yep, Huggies bring Ellis out in dreadful nappy rash too. They are far more 'plasticky' (is that actually a word?) than a lot of the others. I find that, in the 'evil sposie' market, Asda's Comfort Dry are great as are the Cien ones you get from Lidl, believe it o...

Thanks for the welcome! It does indeed feel very friendly here indeed! Ann, I'm out in Bothwell - though alas not in one of the rather flashy houses! But it does mean I can pretend to friends that I'm 'almost rural' (rather than the reality of being awkwardly sandwiched between Hamilton and Cambusla...

A very shy wave from just outside Glasgow...
Hello everyone, hope all are well. Yep, another newbie. I'm a complete beginner with very limited space (a very small council house garden!). I grew some herbs last year that were really successful (despite the constant rain) and I'm hoping to start with some tomatoes and runner beans this year. Jus...
