Re: seed recommendation

I've used them - they're really good, and very fast delivery. Seeds are all packaged really well (I've had seeds from DT Brown that have been in ripped, soggy packets before now). If you follow them on Facebook, they also do special discounts - I think I got 10% off my order.

Re: Veganism not an option any more

Sulis / Flower Hercules.... Sorry, I've just skimmed through this and I don't have any idea if you are even male or female, so I'm dead sorry about that. If you are female, do you use a contraceptive coil, by any chance? I know of several women who have described EXACTLY your symptoms, and it caused...

Re: moon cup still fits

Check the wee tiny holes around the neck of it, clear them out with a pin if it seems to be leaking / not fitting. Those teeny tiny holes are more important than they look! It's all about suction, baybee, suction. Or something.

Re: Inexpensive seed suplier

I used vegetableseeds.net for some of my stuff this year (I drew up my wishlist from the DT Brown catalogue and then looked to see what I could get cheaper elsewhere), and I got free P&P despite my order only being £4.00 odd :dontknow: I'm giving DT Brown a final shot this year at the rest. I've...

Re: weight loss 2013

Just out of interest, Demi, why do you want to lose weight when you are only 8 stone? 8st 2lbs this morning. But i am short, only 5ft 1, if i was taller i'd be thinner. I'v had 2 kids and my stomach still sticks out. I'v got fat on me, if you saw me you would see. 8st 2 is actually borderline under...

Re: I love a bargain, what did you buy today??

I recently got a pure lambswool jumper in the Cancer Research Shop in Glasgow for £2.50. It doesn't look like it's ever been worn. My partner and I set ourselves a challenge to buy each other's Christmas presents from charity shops - I did rather well. He bought me a jigsaw, a candle making kit, som...

Re: weight loss 2013

Jon, I am going to give your method a shot. I don't do nearly as much exercise as you do, but I do walk everywhere and I'm going to start my 5K training shortly (using the Couch to 5K plan), and I probably don't eat as many calories as you do in a normal day either (I usually eat around 1800, someti...

Re: weight loss 2013

Indeed. The idea is that your body mops up all the glucose it has available (in the blood, in the digestive tract and stored as glycogen) in about 12-16 hours and then switches more or less entirely to fat burning. The only parts that can run only on glucose (red blood cells and - in the first inst...

Re: What are you reading?

I've almost finished Hemingway's 'Farewell To Arms'. I have become a bit of a Hemingway convert, I'm looking forward to reading some more. Before that I read 'All Quiet On The Western Front', which is one of the most heartbreakingly moving books I've ever read.

Re: weight loss 2013

I'd quite like to be in on this too; but I'm not very good with the whole weighing thing - I'm naturally quite muscular, so I tend to find that when I'm getting more decent exercise I lose weight slower because I'm toning up and gaining muscle. I also don't view BMI in a very good light, I'm afraid....

Re: Solving drainage in a productive way?

Would willow be any help? We are putting in willow to train into 'fences' to help solve a drainage problem we have in the soft-fruit area of our community garden. Just a wee thought...
