Re: Can I eat a chicken dead from unknown cause?

If you don't know how it died then it is unsafe.

Re: Exotic vegetables

Mmmm oca! We know them here as yams, no roast meal is complete without them! I have decided pretty much the same though, as regards to unusual veg, there's usually a reason they aren't so popular... remembering the terrible Asparagus pea disaster...

Re: What to do with shells?

I have other shells which have been through the compost untold times, they just keep hanging around. :-) These aren't decorative at all, so not much good for that either. Great suggestion of putting them in the fire though - they are in there now. I never think to put anything other than wood in the...

What to do with shells?

We foraged a nice number of Pipi (clams) the other day, and now have a lot of shells. Any ideas on how to recycle/reuse them? My only thought was to take them back to the beach.

Re: Anyone with a super small growing space?

Yes, as Diggernotdreamer said, with strings, or I have wrapped trunks and posts in chicken wire, so things can grow up them. The pumpkin vines have tendrils to cling on as they climb up, but require training and persuasion at first. Make sure its a strong tree, as pumpkins are heavy - or grow a smal...

Yes, I didn't make it too thin, as I can level it out with the compound.

Re: DIY bathroom - leveling floor

I had to do a bit of normal concreting yesterday, and realised how easy it is! So did a layer over part ofthe floor, leaving up to about 10mm for the self leveling to finish. It really isn't cheap - easy-mix is about $10 a 25kg bag, the self-leveling is $65 for a 20kg bag....

Re: DIY bathroom - leveling floor

It's about 3.6 x 1.2m. Have been to the hardware shop, where the assistant rang the supplier for me. Do-able, in layers, apparently, so I'm giving it a go next week. Using sand as extender for the first fill. I'm still a little concerned about over-filling, can imagine having to re-do the whole floo...

Re: DIY bathroom - leveling floor

Trouble is, it's a sloping floor, so ranging from 0mm down to the 30mm, which is why I thought the self leveling stuff. The timber part has been leveled to the highest point of the existing concrete.
