Re: Fire Extinguishers
Thanks for replies, This type of extinguisher will often be used as a fixed extinguisher in an office to protect expensive electronic equipment so will not move. In this case the gas FE 13 might be used as it is fairly safe to humans. I will be contacting fire extinguisher suppliers when they return...

Fire Extinguishers
I am in the process of establishing the safety equipment requirements for a charter angling vessel under the Small Vessel Code MGN 280. I need some advice on extinguishers and hope there might be an expert out there! The British Standard for portable extinguishers is BS EN 3. Can anyone advise if an...

Re: Veggies for damp Northern climes
Sorry this reply is off target considering your original request but I feel I was in a similar position to you 10 years ago. Old house to renovate. It was the mention of concrete floors that rung bells with me. If your concrete floors do not have insulation underneath them and you have not made too ...

Re: Yorkshire to London by train?
Hi Andy, Thanks, yes I did consider the coach but the idea is we are going to London AM and returning same evening. As far as I can see the coach takes about 8 hours each way so I did not get to the stage of looking to see how much it would cost. The reason I considered travelling by train was there...

Re: Yorkshire to London by train?
Thanks for your help. The job is FAR TOO COMPLICATED! I used to have a shop selling clothing. Jeans were £30 a pair on Monday and were still £30 on Tues, Wed, Thurs, Fri & Saturday. I suppose I have to accept there are differences in running a railway to running a small clothing shop but this ti...

Re: Yorkshire to London by train?
Thanks Eigon, Done that. Fares are easily double what it will cost to go by car! Someone did mention that if you book ahead you will save money/receive discounts. Accordingly I altered my search time to mid March and got exactly the same results as I did for 13th January. Looks like there is just no...

Yorkshire to London by train?
I have decided I would like to go to the boat show at Excel in London 8th to 18th Jan. Rather than drive I would like to take the train. 2 people I have spoken to have seen special rail fares advertised on TV to London at £9.50 return. I have been totally unable to locate these fantastic bargins, in...

Black shrew?
I was just about to drive up our lane yesterday when I noticed a mouse running about on the road. I watched it for a couple of minutes then carefully drove towards it. By now it was at the side of the road and I parked beside it. I stepped out of the car and picked it up and put it on the car seat. ...

Re: Battery Hens
I can see where you are coming from but would not like to condemn anyone who has bought any ex batts. I was unaware that the battery farms made a charge for their girls though. Maybe some do, maybe some don't? I also understand that one persons interpretation of "FREE RANGE" may be differe...

Re: Naan bread recipe
I do attempt to make Naan bread: 3 cups strong bread flour 1 cup tepid water hand full Kalongi 1 packet dried yeast Just make a dough as if you were making pizza base or bread. Allow to rise. Divide into suitable portions. Roll out. If my range is lit I cook them on the bottom of the oven or in a he...

Sorry but it looks far too small to me. I feel the idea of keeping your own poultry is to provide them with superior accommodation/life to their caged relatives.

Re: Weeds that give up?
I planted Comfrey in a corner of my veg patch without being fully aware of the consequences. I am now having to learn to live with it spring up everywhere.
