i am currently useing chian saw sawdust for bedding for my chooks and seems to work ok the girls dont seem to mind it and it isnt that dusty as its larger than saw dust from a chippie because the teeth of a chain saw are courser so make bigger shavings

how much to feed a pig

im looking at getting a couple of pigs to fatten in the garden the area i have is about 10foot by 50 foot so enough space , but i can find nowhere which tells me how to work out thier rations for daily feeding is there a rule of thumb or a laid down formula to enable me to work out how much to feed ...

hi there i will be using mr berrys recipe with my own slant to it. but the rule i tend to use when in doubt is 3lb of sugar to a gallon and a teaspoon of yeast to a gallon fruit tends to work out at about 3lb to a gall but a bit more will make for a stronger flavoured/bodied wine a bit less will mak...

hi fluffy i use mr berrys book for all my rcipes and have found all the ones ive tried have worked but i use them as a guide not a bible i never add to many extras to my wines ie fruit sugar water yeast & nutrient maybe some of the stuff that kills pectin and thats it if he says add concentrate ...

probably the best source of worms would be your compost heap just collect as many as you can acommon reason people fail with brought in worms is they dont give them time to establish them selves and over load the wormery this then causes the ph balance to go to acidic as stuff rots before the worms ...

hi worms are quite simple creatures to look after they like an area which is fairly neutral in wich to live they then go up into the rotting waste above and eat this turning this in to more of the area they like to live in things to avoid are to much acidic stuff like citrus fruits and onion skins a...

depending on the machine some machines have a hot and acold water feed so rather than heating the water to the required temp it takes your loverly hot water you have payed a foutune to heat and adds cold water to it to reduce the temp :? :dontknow: . i believe with this sort of machine turning the h...

just a thought on this every one seems to have covered the treatments but one of the causes i have read about and had with my hens is if they get at long strands of grass or similar food stuffs especial if you give them cuttings as a treat they cant chew this up and if they eat too much or dont have...

i have 3gallon of plum and 3 gall of coffee on the go at the mo ment
jaust bottled the last gall of damson and a gall of cider
we are busy drinking 1st attempt at beer(from a kit) and i think there are still a couple of bottles of elderflower left :drunken: :drunken: :drunken:

it is definately not red mite been ther done that
might have to by some feather mite powder and have a go is it better than most of the red mite powders which dont seem to work
does any one know if dusting the birds with diamos earth will work on feather mite

does anyone have any knolage about feather mites my chooks have developed bald patches and there is a white crumbly type stuff in the coop (looks a bit like crushed quills)
