Re: Men plucking their eyebrows!

looking like Denis Healey. My OH too. I run the clippers over them when I cut his hair. As for plucking them, I can't really understand why anyone does it. I tried it as a teenager it hurt and haven't bothered since. If men want to do it, that's fine, but I sort of see it as end of epoch "pee...

Re: Achocha tea

I'm guessing it's as you've already tried. A quick Google search, which I'm sure you've already done, makes only very brief references to "and a tea can be made from the seeds". I did see a site that mentioned the whole fruit, dehydrated and powdered, was also used to make tea and/ or put in smoothi...

Re: Ckook adventure

Is it breeding or conditioning? Could their chicks be trained to sit? I'm just musing really, you'd probably need to change the rooster if you succeeded, so it wouldn't be much use.

Are Isa Browns good for eating or will they get to retire as pets?

Re: Flying insects

they are only about 15mm long X 1mm wide I think I knew that, somewhere in the brain recesses that hold my aromatherapy training. We were always told bracken was poisonous when we were kids, but then they told us that about most plants so we wouldn't just indiscriminately munch on things, I think. ...

Re: Ikea Solar Panels!

I don't know, we've just spent a small fortune on a new roof, so we've not looked with any seriousness yet.

One thing I did like was the gizmo for working out the quote, savings and expected electricity production.

I had a look - £12k for our roof! Crikey. Great idea though.

Re: Flying insects

Yes, we have tea tree, although we have it as an essential oil. Splendid stuff but I didn't have any to hand. Fine to add to the concoction. Or rub a leaf on.

Re: Windowsill tomatoes and Lidl planters

I'd love a greenhouse all the way along the front wall but finances don't allow as yet. It would be perfect but would cost an arm and probably both legs!

Windowsill tomatoes and Lidl planters

We gave up growing stuff in the polytunnel as between the wind and lack of sun it has proved fairly useless (so we've given it away!). Anyway we had a trial run last year and decided it looked growing on our windowsills seemed like a good alternative for tomatoes, cucumbers and continue with the chi...

Re: Oval-necked demijohn - fix/throw out ?

my lodger knocked a gallon of blackberry wine, ready for bottling off the kitchen counter. Probably good legal grounds for eviction there. I suppose as a last resort you could stretch a balloon over the neck and put a pin through it. I've never tried it myself but it might be worth - I'm sure...

Re: Phone apps

Dunno. I'm afraid it might just need a troll through the app store. One of the good things about iphones is that stuff is very easy to uninstall if found to be useless. One of the bad things is that there's a lot of that out there!

When I was a good deal younger it was called Wandering Jew, but that's probably not politically correct now.
I nearly added that but decided best not. :pale:

Re: Flying insects

Yes, I've still got a lump on my forearm from a cleg bite from our first visit here in 1999 - we were so overwhelmed by the clouds of midges that I barely noticed this thing eating me. One thing that occurred to me about the salve. Not everyone has the essential oils but the plant matter could be in...
