Re: Seasonal clear outs

  By my reckoning that gives us all of Scotland and a smidge of Northern England to play with. I'm up for it if you are.

Re: Where can I buy online alternative type shampoo's?

Hopefully they've improved since I last used one. I read excellent reviews of one of the bars from the store you mentioned above. The trouble is I get a sickly headache whenever I get within a few metres of the shop. I really wish they'd tone it down a notch or two.

Re: Seasonal clear outs

I agree totally Flo and am fighting the urge. The trouble is I get myself into trouble when I'm not busy making - " the Devil makes work...." you know.

Re: Where can I buy online alternative type shampoo's?

Good luck with your shampoo bar ina. I know a lot of folks use them but I never found one that I could actually rinse out properly. I always ended up with a haystack instead of a hairdo. I don't know if it's because I used too much, have particularly thick hair or the brands I tried (including...

Re: Seasonal clear outs

I had a hospital appointment on Thursday, so while down in Inverness I took all that remained my stock, all handmade by me - a load of baby blankets and hats to the maternity unit; a bag of mixed handbags and other lovely stuff to Maggie's Cancer Care; scarves, shawls and hats to Blythswood; and mor...

Re: Seasonal clear outs

I don't know, Flo, but I can tell you that people don't seem to be spending their money as much these days. I sold so little in my shop this year that I decided to knock it on the head. Most of my remaining stock, all made by me, will be distributed between various local charities in the hope they'l...

Re: Silly Season Self Sufficiency

My invite to the Golden Oldies Christmas do arrived today! OH is seriously dischuffed - this year he's been invited too and he's only in his early 50s. I'm not ready to consider my self an Oldie yet, Golden or any other colour. Plus, like yourselves, dietary restrictions, increased recently due...

Sorry to hear that, ina. Take care of yourself - Iknow this isn't your best time of year, even without beeing poorly. :hugish:

Re: Silly Season Self Sufficiency

Having no TV channels (we do have a TV just no licence or subscriptions) or newspapers we, thankfully, manage to miss most of the hype around Christmas. We're not religious and dislike all the commercialism but do push the boat out a bit, although our efforts are probably poor compared to others'. I...

Re: Self sufficient skills List

You're both cruising (for a bruising)! OK, I can spin, weave, knit, crochet, sew by hand and machine. Some of those better than others but if cold enough I'm sure the other skills would speed up. I also have a huge stash of fabrics and yarns so it wouldn't necessarily be from scratch. I can al...

Re: Leaf mould

I agree with Flo. If you're going to use plastic bags I'd poke a few holes to allow a bit of airflow and water to get in and out.
