Re: collecting slugs after dark...If you use the plank method you don't need to go out with a torch. Just collect from the plank in daylight. Minimum effort - maximum harvest.
Use a glass jar with no air hole and the seedlings will probably overheat and die. You could try the top half of 2 litre water/cola etc bottles. They have a hole in the top and act as protection and a mini green house too. OOOOOh Thanks for that. Suppose I raise the jar slightly off the ground with ...

You could drop them in a jar of beer to kill them? I often slice them in half with a hoe (sorry but it's true). That's pretty instant. The salt is also very quick though. Slugs don't like soot & sawdust, so I am told. At the moment I am using large glass coffee jars as cloches to keep em off, t...
I have also heard that salt poured into the middle of the plant will kill it. Wonder if the type of salt is important -

Salt does work, most usefull on dandelions on the lawn, but worms don't like salt, stays in the ground, not too good. Cheap household salt will do.

Now, being a paid-up-member of the re-use community, myself and like minded people being constantly vigilant a...
