Re: Empty Freezer Drawers

just put in empty bottles to stop cold air from 'falling' out... does that make sense? Spot on. what wastes energy is everytime you open the door the cold air drops out, is replaced by warm air which takes energy to cool it down. what you need to do is occupy the space with something that takes as ...

We are a family of 2 adults 1 child. Electricity: 12.63 Kwh/day (summer hot water is from an immersion heater until we can afford solar panels, has been as low as 9.9 Kwh) Gas: 6.43Kw/day (higher in the winter as our central heating is a very innefficient, its a 20+ year old gas rayburn) and I'll ad...

Hi, Although I've not planted anything yet I have off and on done some research on this. Firstly plant oak, it will be excellent firewood, but possibly for your great grandchildren, it is seriously slow growing which is what makes it hard and strong. The most common coppice trees from my reading are...

Only last year I had a day long "Blue Sky" meeting. I'd like to take this opportunity to push my own jargon. This started off as an IT office game, you have to come up with a new piece of jargon, weave it into a presentation and see if you could get any senior managers to use it. So, I pre...

Well, eclipse internet do a home package for £17.95 which has a monthly download limit of 10Gb. Setup is free if you sign up for 12 months. I am an IT manager, I use them for broadband for all my home users (including me). They are not outrageously special, but I do think better than average.

ok, so changing the tack a little here, how practical would it be to use solar power to make a shed a little bit cooler ? The reason being is we plan to use a stone shed to store some of our harvest (apples, potatoes that sort of thing). We did pop a min max thermometer in there last summer and unfo...

I think it is a brilliantly practical idea. Don't use chipboard though, it won't last at all unless you can keep it totally dry. Make sure you put the fence panels facing outwards (otherwise the slats will channel the rain in rather than out !

Ah well Martin, there are one or 2 of us left using IE, well actually as of March 2008 a minority of 53.1% of the browser market, compared to the 36% of firefox users. I have used both but have settled with IE7 as I happen to prefer it.

Sorry to be a pain (I am a developer so am only too painfully aware how impossible it is to please everyone). But can we have the forum a bit narrower please, even on my widescreen monitor I have to scroll sideways to be able to navigate to the various pages. thats with IE7 & Vista if it makes a...
