Re: Rainwater harvesting project - the finished article

It looks good. You could perhaps use Pollythene as the funnel to reduce weight at the top. Or perhaps just design the "funnel" bit to fit on a standard IPC or 220ltr Water barrel, that way you would be upcycling redundant commercial equipment, and reducing the cost of the finished article...

How do I set up a milking machine?

Hand milked for as long as I can remember but never machine milked, but now got an old fullwood bucket Pulsator and 2 place goat clusters and cups. Came with Alfa Lavel pump and motor which runs ok, however all rubber hoses are perished and not connected. I know nothing about machine milking, so is ...

Rabbits in cages or can it be another way?

I know that what we are doing is technically wrong, let me explain. A couple of months ago we advertised for sale some weaner pigs. A very nice guy came to buy from us and we ended up bartering Pigs for Rabbits and now have 4 lovely young Doe’s with a Buck from a different bloodline due later this m...

new Angora goats

Hi, We have been trying to decide what breed of animal to get to produce fleece for home spinning and after a lot of research decided on Angora goats rather than sheep. We would happily travel some distance to buy two or three Doe’s for our initial breeding stock but want to compile a list of Ango...

Cook your own dog food

We are amassed how much packaging we were getting from our Dog food. Of course we were recycling the cans and paper packets but wondered about providing balanced meals for our two collies cooked at home. We researched this on the internet and found lots of information about their dietary requirement...

New farm Pond

Last summer we dug a pond for all our livestock. Pigs, cows, ducks and geese. If the Img works you will see it is quite big. We will still have to manage how the stock get access to it as we do not want it getting mucked up. It still has to be good for the wildlife. We plan to just plant native shru...

Yes I agree Snapdragon, progs like this 'Build A New Life in the Country' is so annoying to us as most people relocating to the country do not build a new life. We have nothing against genuine relocation, but people who commute to work and do contribute to village life or even shop in the village is...

Mine loved carrots straight from the fridge when she was teething, they are nice and cool for their hot sore gums! Some ove them others hate them but worth a go.
Thanks, they love the carrots.
