Re: Mulch suitability

It'll be acid so I'd use round things that like ericaceous compost (blueberries, Azaleas, rhododendrons and such) or use on your paths. I'd say it would cause damage where you are thinking of using it as those aren't things that do well with acid soil.

Re: Snowman pumpkin

I've done them and the family liked them. They were easy enough to look after as well.

Re: Weather forecast

I've found the UK met office to be as good as any but we do have a reporting station just up the road. Mind there are days when they change their minds by the hour. I keep an eye on their radar rain chart and their surface pressure charts. It may be 50 years since the fleet air arm trained me as a w...

Something happened?

I dropped in yesterday to a whole new look but failed to be able to post. I know the board was down for a bit (something to do with the ish monkeys knitting the internet it said) then it came back, not a lot worked and now it's all changed again. Is there fun in the back ground? Were we hacked? Did ...

Re: Bread flour question

What you've proved is that not all equivalent items are equal and that buying cheap doesn't always pay.

Which doesn't answer your question - you need people who have succeeded with Aldi bread flour.

Re: HELP have i still time to prune fruit trees and rasps

Hi gunners No need to panic - cherry and plum trees should be pruned early to mid summer along with other stone fruit trees so that job doesn't need to be done now. Sweet peas you can do now up to April so there's an easy task to do. I'm about to do mine now. Mind it's sleeting so no hurry here eith...

Re: Vegetarian diet

Depends on the sort of vegetarian you are Skippy.

I don't get the ones who eat eggs and dairy either. Here speaks a vegetarian. I'm often confused by the others mind you. Though I'm easily confused.

Re: Vegetarian diet

Nope proper vegetarians wouldn't approve of the bacon. Mind that and proper cheese are two of the hardest foods to give up - the cheese only counts mind if you are going for the vegan end of vegetarian.

I'll happily ignore the fish with you.

Re: Newbie here :)

It's only the horror stories that make good reading in the press and sell papers/get listeners. You need to try before going all the way. If you can get a stay in a yurt you'll have more of an idea if it'll work. Caravans and small children don't mix in my experience but I'd not be without the exper...
