Re: What are you growing right now?
I'm growing impatient at the moment but it's too early for much up here except aubergines and peppers for the greenhouse on a warm window sill.

Re: 5 or 9 acres?
Having lived on a farm with footpaths here and there across it - dogs and people were an ongoing problem. If the 9 acres has been out of use for some time, then bad habits will have become ingrained. Providing screening for the farmhouse will be an interesting discussion as the farmhouse may not wan...

Re: Tidying up with ...
Not sure that Marie Kondo would cope with some of the clearing and tidying in this discussion. Methinks she wouldn't have a clue as to where to start. It's a thought though - how would she do in a stately home? Or a pub renovation where she had to decide what to keep or throw to make something viabl...

Re: What are you reading?
The Lost Gardens are lovely. You need to allow at least a day and possibly 2 to really enjoy them though. If I could drive it would be a really good place to explore properly rather than the brief visit as part of a coach tour.

Re: Tidying up with ...
Your tale reminds me of the vacant property team that was recently sent in to clear a downstairs flat round the corner from me vacated by an older lady who had gone into a care home. The nearest parking space was not close so all the furniture was pulled out and stacked at the garden gate so that th...

Re: Tidying up with ...
ina you aren't the only one who does keep or has kept things like that. But we only have 2 weeks to clear out this social housing bungalow if I leave for a home or am deceased. As all my family work and many live the distance away, I try to keep on top of the clutter. I'd not like the full Marie Kon...

Re: Tidying up with ...
Yeah and some of us have been left with stuff that should really have been put in a skip as no one using a double bed can use another 20 sides to middle single sheets and worn thin ones which are always going to be more than enough cleaning rags for a couple of lifetimes in a small flat - even doing...

Tidying up with ...
Have we all met the Marie Kondo tidying up phenomenon? She has this advice that if it doesn't give you joy then you should not keep it in your tidy house. I suppose that it helps with hoarders but .... But where does this leave the reduce, reuse and recycle idea? How many people complete the tidy up...

I'm old but gave up being a wife a long time ago
Have just looked at the RHS which says that parsnip canker can be caused by various things but also says to protect from carrot fly.
