I'm the one who said it won't rise!
I suspect we could be in a speculation bubble with oil, the steep rise is too much in a short space of time to be explained by China or India. People are buying it as an investment, just as they were in the housing bubble that just burst.

? I dont think i understand what you mean, literally on the price tag? I don't know. Not in the shop I work in, it is printed on the packet. We have a fossil fuel based economy, so the best indicator of something's carbon footprint is surely its price tag. Anyone agree, or am I being too simplistic?

Re: ZeroWastePackaging - My campaign
Today, I achieved ZWP in my shopping by visiting 2 local shops for meat, veg and fruit. The idea is to remove packaging from the bin waste as I have already done with recyclables and food waste. I currently empty the bin every 3 weeks but my target is 52 weeks. Can this be achieved? You might not r...

it can be done, but the amounts of power are fairly miniscule, and the equipment very expensive............ :cooldude: Minimise consumption, then go for a wind turbine/photovoltaic combination for electricity - think yacht or caravan! You could put together a rudimentary system for a few hun...

Thanks for all the advice. I guess I can forget the water tanks for electricity, although I still want to pump groundwater and compost all waste to be 100% self sufficient with water. Coppicing is something I've been looking at as well. I'm very fond of rowan trees, and I've heard they're fast growe...
