Re: Problems with the new FiTs scheme

but that's not stopping you generating leccy for your own use is it ?? - just selling any surplus yes Brett.. But when one has expended a VAST amount of money (equivilant to buying a house) doing a hydro scheme - to be told that you might not qualify any longer as you have used second hand equipment...

Problems with the new FiTs scheme

In case anyone is unaware - the new FiTs schem from the UK government, denies anyone from using 'recycled or reused or refurbished equipment' And it all needs to be 'MCS accredited' - which is a load of twaddle. Go look - you might be frightened. Especially, like me - you own an old mill, and want t...

Re: How can I make a cheap Pelletizer

if the tube is slightly conical, then the ejection would be easier. I got my log splitter yesterday - so have yet not had a chance to rip it aprt and much about with it. It already needs modifying, as it lacks 'spreader wings' re bog roll tubes. Um - yeah - for a 1 bed flat, that might be OK - we ha...

Re: Ground source heat pumps

I have a small 5kw GSHP - running from the water under my house. It works - but my god is it noisy! Its akin to a honda suitcase generator I would say - a loud HMMMMMM - like a fridge, but louder. Our system heats nicely a 42' x 22' room, with 21' apex (barn conversion type) for 1.5kw of leccy. The ...

Re: kilowatts flowing down the hill . . . .

power (watts) = flow (litres per second) x gravity (9.81) x head (metres)

so, if you have 10 litres per second, and ten metres head, you have 1000 watts. Thats a very low flow, and a good head.

So what have you got?

I have one of their systems - cost 2K inc getting a plumber in to do the very very long run (hundreds on copper pipe spent) - I have a 60 tube setup - way bigger than normally necessary.
