Re: Some pictures

I really need one in reverse; one where it rains inside You mean like this .. I put the pump on for half an hour to bed in the plants I just put in and to moisten the main bed where the sweetcorn is going. This is pure rain water collected from my barn roof and stored in 2 x 1000 litre tanks. Rain ...

Re: Some pictures

You probably did the right thing GA.
As I think I've said several times on here, a polytunnel is just a piece of garden protected from the elements, a greenhouse effectively moves that small piece of garden several hundred miles south.
Where you are you need all the help you can get.

But where's the swimming pool
The swimming pool is everywhere outside of my undercover growing areas at the moment.
I've never regretted buying the tunnels and building the greenhouses, especially when it rains incessantly as it's been doing for the last 6 months or more. :banghead:

Some pictures

... for posterity, certainly this photo of my totally empty east polytunnel. I'm almost certain it has never been totally empty at any time since I built it in 2006. I would like to say it was intentional, to let it lie fallow or something, but it is sheer coincidence and will probably never happen ...

Been there, done that. It's hard work for not much return
I agree, that's why I have never even considered selling my produce, I can't be arsed with customers.
I make sure I only produce the (more or less) exact amount for what we can use, including eggs.

Re: Your diet

Well I eat just about every meat, plus just about every fish and shellfish, plus I eat a lot of vegetables as they're all free, plus I eat a lot of fruit and I have a sort of medical diet as well.
So I ought to tick all the boxes as you didn't include omnivorous

Re: Your diet

Why didn't you include "omnivorous" in the list as that's what most people are.
"Meat eater" implies no fruit or vegetables in that diet.

Or am I being obtuse?

I miss England!
So do I, like the proverbial hole in the head !
I'm afraid England has become a nasty alien country in the 25 years since I left, but that's a whole different topic.

I cant recycle my cardboard here
May I ask why you can't recycle cardboard?
Cardboard and paper is readily recyclable everywhere in Ireland.
Not that I recycle my loo roll tubes as they are much too valuable for sowing parsnips and sweetcorn in, in fact I don't get enough.

Re: White Vinegar

Probably because white vinegar is distilled like whiskey and brown malt vinegar is brewed like beer.
Same reason a bottle of whiskey is more expensive than a bottle of beer. :drunken:
