I miss England!
So do I, like the proverbial hole in the head !
I'm afraid England has become a nasty alien country in the 25 years since I left, but that's a whole different topic.

I cant recycle my cardboard here
May I ask why you can't recycle cardboard?
Cardboard and paper is readily recyclable everywhere in Ireland.
Not that I recycle my loo roll tubes as they are much too valuable for sowing parsnips and sweetcorn in, in fact I don't get enough.

Re: White Vinegar

Yes, I expect you got the "I am a dirty spammer" bit as well.
I have no idea why, it was certainly long before I joined.
If you put a dollar sign instead of the "s" works OK .. Te$co

Re: White Vinegar

Probably because white vinegar is distilled like whiskey and brown malt vinegar is brewed like beer.
Same reason a bottle of whiskey is more expensive than a bottle of beer. :drunken:

New season veg

Easter Sunday dinner and the first of the new season vegetables.
New potatoes just big enough to be called potatoes and a Spring cabbage.
Not that it's spring weather, it's been lashing down all day.

Re: Has Spring sprung?

Oh dear, I don't remember that being forecast when I saw the UK weather man after the 10 o'clock news last night. Although if it only happened in the north highlands it probably wasn't worth mentioning by the London based BBC New Zealand weather company. We get that down here, if it's not going to a...

Re: Hops

I remember when I lived in Scotland that there was reputed to be an old settlement site at the bottom end of Loch Lomond that had hops. As I grew up involved in hops I just HAD to go and find them, and sure enough they do grow (and ripen) in Dunbartonshire, at 56 degrees north. I grow them here pure...

I seem to remember that it has something to do with black currants harbouring a pest or disease that affects their trees, but as I can't remember anything past yesterday I could be wrong.

Re: Sweetcorn

Not all sweetcorn is F1, I grow Little Bantam which is an open pollinated heritage variety which is far less sweet than the modern varieties. The seed lasts at least 3 years, but it's dead easy to do a germination test for yourself. Put 10 seeds on a damp tissue in a sealed container in your airing ...

Easter

As Easter is getting close here's a batch of Hot Cross buns, fresh out of the oven.
No crosses though as I'm an atheist.
