Little white maggots among the strawberry roots.

Digging out some strawberry plants to transplant, I find little white maggots living among the roots. Friend or foe? I'm guessing foe.

Re: Home brew supplies in Ireland?

Cool thanks. No not Guinness, wine. With Guinness there can be no substitute for the real thing. We have a long hedgerow along the back of the house, entirely gorse. Go out every morning the air smells like coconut. Well they say you can make wine with it. Likewise with the nettles. They grow under ...

Home brew supplies in Ireland?

Where can I get home brew supplies in Ireland?
I'm near the north coast, so the further north the better. Though Dublin would be good too.

Thanks.

Re: I've got mushrooms on my mushrooms. wtf?

This is a B&Q kit. I'll take a pic when I get home this evening. It's like smaller spheres budding out of larger ones. I picked the fully grown ones and put them in the fridge. They smell like mushrooms. They look almost like mushrooms. I'm guessing they cook and eat like mushrooms, but I don't ...

Re: proud of my mushrooms!

Another landmark album after the success of "Try This", entering the UK charts at #3.
I'm having trouble with my 'shrooms, see my other thread. Mushrooms on my mushrooms I'm getting.

Good job.

I've got mushrooms on my mushrooms. wtf?

I've been growing mushrooms in a polystyerene box indoors. At first nothing happened and I was going to give up. Eventually I have a few mushrooms, not many. But they all have what look like smaller mushrooms budding out of them. (1) Are they ok to eat? (2) How did this happen? I think the compost w...

Willow as fuel?

I have some willow, I think it's mostly Salix alba and a few other types, acting as a windbreak. I'm wondering if I propagate it enough, will it be any good as firewood? How much would I need for one year's fuel? How long would I have to wait? I suppose I'd space them further apart than the windbrea...

Re: Successes and failiures.

Courgettes aplenty but not much flavour to them. I used cocozelle this year. Tasteless things. Back to the darker variety next year. Or I might even give them a rest. The peas were a huge success, but only to the grazing toddlers. Hardly any made it indoors. And why not. The beans are only coming ou...
