Re: Birth-to-potty or sized nappies?

Hi! Seems like a million years since I've posted (I have a 10 week old little guy!). I use fitted cloth nappies, I'm in NZ though so the brands are obviously going to be different. I bought 4 from different makers to see which I liked the most, my favourite are made by Honey Child over here, I think...

Re: Bokashi & Tea Bags

Whoops, I always put the teabags in the bokashi & have never noticed any problems!! I tend to buy organic herbal tea which maybe comes in teabags which biodegrade more easily??

Re: Water-retention quick fixes?

Nettles nettles nettles! Lots of nettles! I don't like the taste so I mix nettles & peppermint together, yummy & effective. Even stopped me having water retention when I was pregnant :)

Re: Grapes in a polytunnel?

Maybe make sure that when the fruit is almost ripe that there's enough airflow going through - you wouldn't want your lovely grapes getting spoiled by rot & if it's nice & warm & humid in there rot would just love to set in.... Also keep an eye on the canopy, grapes are very susceptible ...

Re: HOT!

It sure is scary, they just said on the news over 100 people have died...so sad, I burst into tears watching the telly...sending love & strength to everyone over there. The heat seems to have finally broken over here (gisborne nz), and now it's raining which is a great improvement. Thanks for po...

Re: HOT!

It's just gone 7pm and still 28 degrees here...and being 7 months pregnant is making it feel like about 280 degrees!! I've been sitting with my feet in a bucket of cold water, very effective :flower: This time last week it was 38 though, I'm happy it's not that hot again!

Re: women's health again; menstrual stuff...

My husband couldn't stop laughing the first time I had mine in a pan on the stove!! I was a bit apprehensive when I first got mine, but as soon as I figured out how to operate it I was hooked - although I ended up only getting to use it for one cycle before finding out I'm pregnant, but will be back...

Re: No water!

Mesh gutter guards should keep anything mysterious out of the water - we have to be super careful as it's our drinking supply - my lovely husband gets up on the roof every few weeks with a scrubbing brush and gives all the guttering a good scrub. Lucky too that we live on an organic/biodynamic prope...

Re: No water!

Ha ha, you're dead right, I'm on the (very dry) east coast of NZ  . Good point, you don't want to make your garden a bog!! I liked the idea of using it to flush the loo, a cunning use of mucky water.

String Dispenser - poke a hole in the top & out comes the string! No more tangles :flower: . (my mum's cunning plan!)

Re: No water!

I know just how you feel with no water - but ours is for the opposite reason! We've had hardly any rain in ages & only have rainwater tanks at our place! We did have a lucky spell last week when it rained for a day or so, but it's still pretty tight - if you need to run your water til it's clear...

Re: how do you dry homemade pasta for storage?

We hang it over the laundry drying rack! Put a teatowel underneath to catch anything that drops, but it does the trick & there's lots of room for lots of pasta
