I'm no expert but that does sound a little high. The perch in my coop is just two inches of the floor, with a layer of straw underneath..it helps keep them warm in cold weather and makes cleaning a ton easier!

Sex changing chicken!!!!!!!!!

We have three hens, all two years old, and usually good layers. I noticed recently that the chief hen was laying thin shelled eggs with rubbery whites. She has now bulked up in size and is mounting the others on a regular basis! Her comb is also bigger and more scarlet and egg laying almost diminish...

I know ecover is supposed to by eco-friendly but I assume it is still slightly caustic????? to achieve any results. If it is then that might well have caused burning as I believe blueberries like acid soil.

It may well be worth mulching the plant with some ericaceous soil to help it to recover.

I made some years ago and it was nice. That is what I managed to recover after the various explosions! For some reason banana wine is very volatile so be careful where you brew it!

The recipe we use (out of a very old book) advises removing the sloes after around six months as they will ultimatley impair the flavour.

Never had to do that yet though as it is so yummy the gin has never lasted that long! :drunken:

I've found the best way for parsnips is to use small bio-degradable pots with a layer of cling film over the top to keep them moist. This is then put on the windowsill in full sun.
