Re: plum brandy?

I might try that one too at some point, or at least the same method of leaving the sugar with the plums for a while, even if I still use brandy, but I can imagine it working well with whiskey too. I made slow whiskey using value whiskey, it's great, apparently it gets smoother and smoother over 18mo...

Re: plum brandy?

I made plum brandy last year by doing it the slow gin method. Sugar, plums & brandy- mix it up and leave for 3 months I did 1lb sugar, 1lb plums, 1 pint brandy plus a cinamon stick- that was really quite sweet. If you like it less sweet I tried 3/4lb sugar and the 'ale drinkers' liked it better...

Re: wood pidgeon

Yes they can be shot with an air rifle, and there is no closed season for woodies. I would say you would need a .22 air rifle with a power of 12lb/sq.ft to ensure a clean kill (this is the maximum allowed before it is classed as a firearm with the appropriate licenses needed from the police). I use...

but of course not :-)

I wouldn't kill anything if it wasn't for food, and wood pidgeons are very tasty.

does anyone know what other game worth eating that you are allowed to shoot and is sensible to do so?

Re: where to start with fisihng?

Don't worry I am aware there are restrictions and will only do what I'm supposed to. I don't expect to get a constant supply either I would just like to go once in a while and make the odd seaside visit.

Re: plum brandy?

I'm sure the one I tasted was from infusing plums in some kind of spirit but didn't taste like gin or vodka, although I guess if something tastes strong enough you don't taste vodka. It was also quite clear not like brandy. I've fo...

Re: where to start with fisihng?

One of the places near me you can get a season pass for £35 to fish and can get things like Zander. am I right in saying thats one of the things people are glad to get rid of...
