Re: shaving oil

My inclination would be to not bother putting any EOs at first, just because shaving leaves your skin a little prone to irritation. I guess that chamomile or lavender would be the only ones I would try at all I did think that myself. I was reading about people putting bergamot in and thought a citr...

shaving oil

Ok, I know I'm really annoying with my 101 things I want to make for myself (now that would be a good thread) but I'm back with another. I've had some success with my 'homemade' concoctions. I've discovered that white vinegar with eucalyptus and sometimes bicarb cleans things wonderfully. I can remo...

Re: Cyclists against the world!

I rode my bike to work for the first time on Wednesday. I have to say, I am one of those people who never took the cycling proficiency test at school and I found the experience ... difficult. There are no decent cycle routes in Coventry and the roads I had to use are busy. Not being very used to a b...

Re: Insence as a form of air freshener

Well, that's a good excuse for me to bake more cakes  ... actually I've been doing a bit of research and did you know you can buy unscented insence sticks and make your own insence from them using essential oils?!?! The link is here for the sticks http://www.wellingtonfragrance.com/Unscented_S...

Re: Caterpillars on Broccoli

My broccoli got completely massacred in the summer, and I'm not willing to let it happen this year! It's garden wars on all things creepy crawly. Someone mentioned that if you spray them with soapy water it gets rid of them: 1. Does this work? 2. Is it wise to spray my veg with soapy water... I do w...

Re: Planning this years veggies.

I've started off some cress on my windowsill... I know, it's simple and 5 year olds grow it in school, but it's a super food you know. I'm also going to grow garlic... need to do more planning though as I cannot feast off garlic and cress alone!

Re: How green are we ?

I think it's probably better to do something than to do nothing isn't it? Even if you are trying not to use unnecessary chemicals to clean your house, or are buying locally produced veg, or growing your own... doing one of those things has to contribute SOMETHING to reducing your carbon footprint. I...

Re: Insence as a form of air freshener

To be honest, I would be wanting to know what's making my dogs smell rather than trying to cover up their odour. No offense intended, but we have had 2-4 dogs of various breeds and mixes living in the house for the last 20 years, and the house doesn't smell doggy unless they come in soaking wet. We...

Re: Bread pudding - with wholemeal bread

Right ishers, I made the bread pudding using stale ends of wholemeal bread and it is an absolute SUCCESS! Woo hoo. I took into account your comments on it perheps needing more water and sweetness, so I soaked it for longer in more water and added a little more sugar and mixed fruit... god it's gorge...

Bread pudding - with wholemeal bread

I'm going to make bread pudding tonight from my stale crust ends (not bread and butter pudding... the nice brown pudding). I'm going to use my grandma's recipe, but she always uses white bread. Has anyone used wholemeal bread in this recipe, and does it taste as yummy? Maybe I should just give it a ...

olive tree

Has anyone tried to grow the indoor dwarf variety of olive trees? If so, what have the results been like, and most importantly are the olives nice?

Thanks.
