Re: Question about homebrew.
I have another quick question. I tend to use the tinned concentrates of beer and cider you can get here in Australia but I sometimes have problems getting the alcohol content up to a reasonable area(between 4-5%.). I recently made a stout for instance with abot a 2% alcohol content. I'm sure some of...

Re: Question about homebrew.
Thanks. I thought I'd better check.
I can't believe I hadn't thought of doing this before because I find bottling 25 bottles quite annoying.

Question about homebrew.
I just bought got some plastic containers, some that you take drinks and stuff on a picnic in and some that come with about 10l of water in and you use at parties or whatever. And I was wondering if they are safe to mature and even ferment beer and perhaps even wine in. I was just wondering because ...

Re: who believes in god (these days)
I tend to be a panthiest/taoist but use paganism/nature worship to better be able to grasp the vastness of some of the concepts with my limited human faculties. Sometimes I like to believe in that these deities are more than just symbols though and I certainly believe in reincarnation/Summerlands. I...

Re: Hello from Chicago USA
Interesting article. I largely agree with him, Obama is bad but he is still not as bad as McCain. McCain is scary, I think it was Pat Buchannan who wrote about him making Cheney look like Gandhi.

Re: Eco-warriors (?)
just a few off the top of my head - Schools, police, roads, refuse collection, street sweepers, care for the elderly... there is more but I think the budgets are different north and south of the border. I am all for these people living the way they are living, it is beautiful, but I don't like the ...

Sounds like a brilliant idea. I'm brewing stout right now but soon I might try that.
Can I be a silly billy though and ask what a pound and a gallon is in metric?

Welcome FarmerPhoebe. I'm new too and it seems like a wonderful little place here. Ouch! I take exception to your remark, b/c it's just not true. From where I come from, we're the good guys. If we had a strong 3-party system, I'd convert to the Greenies in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, every green vot...

Re: QUIT IDLING - a self sufficientish campaign?
I like the idea of the campaign although I must say I don't like the idea of the law. I don't want traffic wardens and the like given even more power. Not that I can actually drive.

Re: Help with my proposed vegetable patch.
Thank you all very much for your advise. I'll certainly try and paint the fence white and hang up some old CDs and try and grow some of those plants you lise Thomzo. Can't say I've had alot of past experience, I've only grown a few strawberries. I'll also try and use water from the garage roof, alth...

Re: Ohhhh lovely, a poll!
I put pagan although I'm pretty ecclectic. I'm pretty much a deist/panthiest who believes the infinite is far to complex for the human mind to take in and that symbols, myths, spells and gods etc can help us better understand and commune with nature. Although sometimes I like to think they are more ...

Re: Help with my proposed vegetable patch.
You could decentralize your garden and plant some of your stuff on the other side of the neighbour's fence. Unfortunately it is tarmac. :cussing: Sorry ... You'd probably do better Googling for shade tolerant plants. There seem to be quite a few that are. I'm sure some of the permaculture bo...

Help with my proposed vegetable patch.
At the top of my garden there is a very good patch where I coul grow vegetables and herbs but the problem is only gets sparse sunlit because of the garage wall and the neighbour's high fence next to it. Is there anyway that anyone knows of here that I can make the area better for growing things. I w...
