Re: What does your home smell of?

At the moment it smells of chicken guts as we have killed, plucked and prepared our ten meat hens this afternoon. I ache like hell and am knackered.

Re: Fishing Floats Made From Seagull Feathers

I hadn't thought of rocket sticks but will pick some up when I am out for a walk next as there are still quite a few lying around. I love walking the tide line and picking up little bits of driftwood that no one else bothers with. I'll try to get to the beach again this weekend for a wander to see w...

Re: WANTED land rover parts & mig welder

If you are offered two mig welders please let me know as my old mini needs some work over the winter and I can't afford one. I'll trade a fully designed website for one.

Re: Fishing Floats Made From Seagull Feathers

Here's my first driftwood bodied waggler, I'm going to make these in varying sizes over the winter.

Re: Fishing Floats Made From Seagull Feathers

I've just finished making a fine bodied waggler from some thin driftwood twig and a cocktail stick.I'll upload a picture when the varnish is dry. I use flourescent orange t-shirt paint that I got from the clearance bin in the local art shop and finish them with clear nail varnish.

Re: 101 stupid things people have said to you

My evil ex-wife once said:

Can you call me back as my battery is flat!

And

Can we bump start the car when it is not moving?

Re: 101 stupid things people have said to you

When I picked up our border collie/jack russell cross once I remarked "Isn't she heavy for her weight!". When at a local animal park I was stroking a rather fat pony and thought she was pregnant so I had a feel of her belly and exclaimed that I could feel the foal, several children and mum...

Re: winter egg laying

We have 36 ex-battery hens and we are still getting two dozen eggs a day. Not sure what is going on here but I'm not going to complain about it.

Re: Advice for a very warm windowsill needed

I have some giant bamboo seeds that I will be trying to grow next year. You can get them going for me if you like as it all sounds a little complicated to me.

Re: Run your car on water?

That's the problem as I see it too. The drag on the alternator due to the extra current would make the engine work harder and negate the extra efficiency of the Hydrogen and Oxygen. Also when these two gasses are burned they create water, what is that going to do to an engine and exhaust system over...

Re: Fishing Floats Made From Seagull Feathers

I tend not to fish in the sea much even though I live right next to it although I do go lure fishing for bass quite a lot. I also make all my own lures.

Re: Run your car on water?

No problem. I have done a lot of research into this subject and may build a HHO system sometime but for now I will just keep reading about it. I don't like the idea of messing about with H2 and being a smoker especially after being on life support a couple of weeks ago after surgery. I kinda value l...

Hi From Sunny Portland

Hi everyone. I'm Jon from Portland in Dorset, hence the username. Together with my wife Su we run a small holding with 4 goats, 36 laying hens (Ex battery), 4 ducks, 11 meat chickens and 1 turkey. The turkey is for Christmas and was hatched by ourselves along with the ducks and meat chooks. I am a m...
