You mentioned a gap?
Quail are a lot smaller than chickens,plus will need different food,
I fed mine wild bird seed,millet,lettuce chick crumb etc ad I got fed up with the fighting and killing so rehomed them.
Chicken wise light Sussex or ixworth would be good layers with a decent carcass.

I made one years ago out of building site scavenged timber,chipboard from a stannah stairlift case found ina layby and several fence panels similar to carltonian mans but no windows. Doors were 2 weldmesh ones from an old triple dog run. Roof was free cycled from an old piggery and was those grey co...

hello ishers long time no speak, me & my wife have just taken on 2 5m x 15 m plots rent is £2.75 a week each, this is on farm land off the farmer not via council, water is on site and as the bottom bit gets boggy there may be space to rent for chickens. rent wise may seem dear but my gardens tak...

interesting thread though i find it hard to believe that nowdays a whippet knocking over a rabbit or killing a couple of rats be considered to be close to baiting and cockfighting under the banner of "blood sports". :roll:
