Looks OK. Are they sunk into the ground?
What amazes me though is that you were able to do it yesterday. What sort of soil do you have? It would be like the Somme here if I went stomping around outside just now.

Re: RAISED BEDS/HOW TO?
Is 4ft and 12 ft a standard size for gravel boards? They are actually supplied as metric lengths but they approximate to these and other lengths. One might also be able to get them cut to size at the timber merchants. When I bought mine I did all the calculations in feet which caused no end of prob...

Arghhhhh! Fry is a pompous know-it-all. Jack Dee's deadpan and self-deprecating humour is much more appropriate. But it will never be the same without Chairman Humph.sleepyowl wrote:Stephen Fry was much better

Re: RAISED BEDS/HOW TO?
My raised beds are about 21" apart - comfortable for kneeling and standing a wheelbarrow. 4' wide is pretty standard because a person's comfortable reach is about 2' from either side. The stakes will go about 6" into the ground, which is heavy, and clay below a certain depth. Interesting t...

Re: RAISED BEDS/HOW TO?
These are my raised beds, approx. 4' by 12' on the right and 4' by 8' on the left. They are two gravel boards (planks) high. http://img267.imageshack.us/img267/5329/backgardenlawn4p.jpg Our road is on a slope, from left down to right and everything has been levelled off at different heights. To save...

What's the worst that can happen? http://newsimg.bbc.co.uk/media/images/45247000/jpg/_45247457_triffids_226282.jpg Yes, keep the chooks well way! Purple Brussels sprouts or purple sprouting? My purple sprouting are out (or should that be in?) but still quite small - considering how big they can get.

Re: BNP on Question Time
But catboy, they don't intend to pay to "send people back to their own countries"!!!!! Like any fascist party, they have a populist, opportunistic, 'reasonable' - "trust us, we're on your side" facade and a nasty real agenda. When Mussolini seized power in Italy, did he organise ...

Re: Sweetcorn
I've had all the big cobs - delicious (F1 Applause).
What are left are the small ones which haven't filled out and so are not sweet. They are soft and may be palatable if cooked. Would they be any good in stirfries?

Re: Best get, Worst get
The purple sprouting broccoli sounds familiar! However, if you've still got it, give it a damned good haircut and watch to see what new growth it produces. That's what I did to a useless purple sprouting broccoli and I had fresh young leaves all autumn/winter and "some" sprouting in the sp...
