Re: advice on relocating

I did see PatR's post and was immediately interested but couldn't possibly go in April when she wanted. It would be the ideal opportunity to experience life there though. Perhaps she could be persuaded to take on some willing volunteers at another time of year! I'm hoping she sees my thread actually...

advice on relocating

Hi everyone. Its been ages since I've been here but its nice to catch up on what everyones been doing and chatting about for the past year or so! Anyway, I'm looking for advice from those lucky ones amongst you who have upped and gawn to another country to live. My partner and I are growing weary of...

Pickling eggs

Can anyone advise me on how to pickle eggs? I've had my chickens for a month now and although there's only 4 of them they are producing more eggs than my partner and I can keep up with! Also, how long do they last once pickled? Help would be much appreciated.

Re: Please help me make a tea cosy!

Even though I am a novice when it comes to sewing, I intend to try and make a tea cosy for my precious teapot without shelling out for a pattern. I have the fabric and some left over wadding to use for padding/insulation so I'm now in need of some tips on where to start really! I only have just eno...

Re: "THE FIT-ISH CLUB"

I haven't posted anything on here for ages as, in all honesty, I've achieved hardly anything! I haven't done any extra exercise or eaten any less. The one thing I have done is gone 10 days solid without eating any chocolate! This is quite a feat for me but I've still been craving sweet things and ju...

Re: Please help me make a tea cosy!

I do actually intend to make it out of a teatowel, but it's one that matches the design on the teapot. It probably would be a good idea to make a practice one first out of something cheap though, because I'll be gutted if I mess it up! That site looks very interesting MrsF. I haven't had a chance to...

Re: Please help me make a tea cosy!

Thanks for that Graye. The embroidery is way beyond me but I've got some nice patterned fabric anyway. What is welting, by the way? Is that something you only need if you're doing the embroidery bit or is it just to stiffen the fabric?

I didn't notice it. When and where did it occur?

Re: Do/could you live without a credit card? Is this a goal...?

I am fairly new to Ish MikeM, so when I said I'd never seen anyone being genuinely unpleasant before, I wasn't implying it never happened, I just meant I'd not seen it and it was not nice when I finally did. On that subject, I would like to apologise to everyone else, as I have since regretted my pr...

Re: Do/could you live without a credit card? Is this a goal...?

interesting Julie, very interesting. This is the first time I've noticed anyone being genuinely unpleasant on this site and it's very disappointing. You are incredibly smug and patronising and since we're in the mood for insults your spelling and grammar are appalling!Suck on that, wiseguy :b...

Re: 101 things to tell yourself to put your house in order

[quoteIf you haven't used it in past 12 months, you don't need it now[/quote] I need to absorb this particular phrase into my being, particularly where my clothes are concerned. I have 4 large drawers and a wardrobe full of clothes and the ones I actually wear regularly would probably fill 1 of the ...

Re: Shortie Cardigan

Thanks for the tips. I'll have a look for that Stitch and bitch book and see if the instructions are any easier to follow! The book I've got is an ancient old Readers Digest needlework book that I picked up in a charity shop and although it does have instructions for left handers its only for straig...

Re: "THE FIT-ISH CLUB"

I'm starting very late, but can I join! Having sworn I was going to give up chocolate I've just eaten half a large bar and feel totally sick! I'm having regular headaches aswell which I put down to either the caffiene or the sugar in the mountains of chocolate that I eat. I keep trying to do the &qu...

Re: Do/could you live without a credit card? Is this a goal...?

Tom Hodgkinson says in his book " How to be Free" (something of a Bible for me!) that credit was invented as a means of encouraging the working classes to spend as much as possible, whilst paying them as little as possible. I think this is true and I have never had a credit card. I know it...
