Help with gooseberries
Hi need advcie just got my allotment about a month ago have just been up there today and the gooseberry bush on the plot has white (mold) fur all over the fruit....what is this and how should I deal with it...think that its maybe mildew and it so do I need to dig up the plant and will it effect othe...

as I've said on other posts I've justr got my plot...went up this morning and took all the heads of the dandelions and I could swear I got them all...went back this afternoon and there was about 20 of the things!!!!!....

Just got mine so today as the kids were at grandmas was my first proper day of digging...four hours later and blisters to prove it( my soft hands are very unused to work)......have got in some onions, garlic, beetroot, spinach and turnips....hoping to get some spuds in tommorrow

Hi just started on my plot ...have bought some mangetout plants from the garden centre...I know they need support but what would be the best structure to use ....ie wigwam...and do I need netting aswell....sorry be prepared for lots of questions over the coming weeks as I am a bit of a novice

Hi don't know if you have a shop called Home Bargains near you but at present at mine they are selling spud grow sacks and veg sacks for 2.00 ......

Think my name was down for about 6 years in total ...looked after a friends plot on the same site for a year a couple of years ago though...so I know most people on there....however this plot is in a much better state (couldn't really get totally on top of the other one it hadn't been totally taken ...

Got my allotment yesterday!!!
Got my allotment yesterday and I am very pleased with it ....was lead to believe it was a really bad plot....it does have partial shade but its not too bad......has a tool storage hut in situ ...four raised beds....red and black currant bushes, gooseberries, raspberries and rhubarb...its a bit weedy...

Hi if you can't find a worthy home for them I know lots if not all charity shops take rags ......they get paid by the weight for them......I know IO bag up all our bits and bobs ie odd socks and clothes that are too bad for any other purpose

what if anything will grow in partial shade
Hi I'm getting my first allotment on friday however I have not seen it but do know that its not one of the bets on the site it in an end corner plot which backs onto the boundary hedge so quite shaded.....can anyone give me any advice as to what would be best to plant in the shade.....what soft frui...

Thanks can't wait til friday ....unfortunately I think its one of the worst plots on the site next to the boundary hedge...so quite shaded....but I'll make the most of it and maybe get moved on to a better one at some point....

Hi I was a member a couple of years ago when I was looking after an allotment for a friend (who gave it up unfortunately) however very pleased to announce that as of this Friday I will be getting my own plot...so looking forward to receiving lots of tips and advice

Ann have tried salt on many occasions and they still get in....must admit its not as bad in this house Ie not every night ....but its still not good....

thanks for the advice but my veggie nature won't let me kill them....(tempting as it is) ....used to have a real problem in our old house ....(which was very old and damp)...looks like the little b****ers have followed us here ...
