Re: Crochet Hooks
I'll let you know when I'm selling and I'd be happy to make a hook from a particular stick. The lathe should be back up and running in a couple of weeks, now the weather is picking up.

Re: I have a home edding question
also, the forum I have joined seems full of very up-themselves people, which I don't like! they also seem averse to newbs with questions. I know exactly what you mean, I certainly cherry pick who I associate with both on forums and with local home educators. I like a quiet life, so keep away from a...

Re: I have a home edding question
I have to say that visits from the LEA are quite a wasps nest where home educators are concerned. I personally now refuse to have visits. At the beginning I, like you, wanted to keep things sweet with the LA (I had a lot going on in my life at the time and didn't need another battle) and so agreed t...

Re: Any home edders out there?
Personally I think (and this is influenced by friends of mine who are teachers) that the government should stop interfering by imposing targets and dictating how teaching is done, leave it to the teachers to decide the best way to teach their pupils, not everyone learns in the same way but, because ...

Re: Any home edders out there?
I've enjoyed reading this thread. My boy is 9 and has never been to school, mainly because I don't agree with the current 'one size fits all' education system, which my sister (who was a head teacher then) continually complained about. Unfortunately, despite her growing unease with the ever increasi...

Re: Lace shawl with skulls on it.
That is beautiful, I've been trying to knit a lace shawl for about 6 years and I'm getting nowhere, as it's impossible to concentrate with a 9 year old boy and an attention seeking cat around. I would love to see it done in a rainbow yarn but I'm not going to be tempted to try it myself :)

I have one and love it. I've used twigs, paper, dried leaves, dried grass, in fact you can use anything natural. We've even run ours on dried llama droppings - this was a one off experiment but it worked :D

Re: Crochet Hooks
I always take my knitting/crochet/spinning out with me. I was a bit self-conscious at first and got a bit annoyed with the snide remarks some people would make but now I'm happy to do it wherever I am. My yarn friends and I love a bit of extreme knitting, so we're often found in silly places with ou...

Re: Industrial Society Destroys Mind and Environment
This is an interesting subject and one which is debated on countless forums. I've pondered long and hard on this subject and my opinion is that we aren't overpopulated yet, there is enough to go around IF certain sections of society stop being greedy. One example being, if we all drove cars that did...

Re: Crochet Hooks
Yes we have a great time with the workshops, sadly we'll never make any money from it but we get so much satisfaction from what we do that we know it's worth it. There's nothing like the delight on someone's face who think they can't do it and then suddenly it all clicks into place and off they go. ...

Re: Am I deficient in something?
I've been a veggie since being very young, because I just didn't like the taste/texture of meat or fish. I also occasionally suffer from eczema and when my eczema flares up, it's usually because I'm being a bit lazy with my diet. Do your nails have white spots and are you feeling more anxious too? I...

Re: Crochet Hooks
They are beautifull. When you go into production will you be making knitting needles too? I'd be really interested in those. MW Not sure if the working distance would be long enough for knitting needles but they could be done on the big lathe. Think I need a mini lathe now (any excuse) as the big l...

Re: Close Escapes!
Lorry took off the top of my friends mini in an accident, we both got out unscathed. We were next in line to go on the pepsi max big one in Blackpool when 2 carriages collided. The valve on a truck's air tank flew off and skimmed the side of my head, I actually had friction burn on the side of my he...
