Re: Wind generator

I'll second Scoraig wind. Haven't had the pleasure of a workshop but when I come to do this I'll be looking there: http://www.scoraigwind.com/

He has loads of plans and great info. The sites a bit full but do some digging and you'll get the best advice there.

Good luck.

Re: Research Help!

Hey Im a designer by trade too. Best of luck with the assignment. I think you may need something for leafy finds and herbs like Fat Hen, Ramsons and nettles. Not sure vegetables cover this. I think an acorn would be a strong graphic for nuts. Be interested to see how you get on, post them up when yo...

Re: Cat climbing on my Polytunnel

Cool will try that. Do you think deep heat will help in the same way that Tiger balm does. Might be a bit cheaper.

There's no way this could effect the poly at all?

Re: Cat climbing on my Polytunnel

My wife has just found this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Toolbank-STV610-Defenders-Mega-Sonic-Repeller/dp/B000NR8Q1U/ref=sr_1_2?s=outdoors&ie=UTF8&qid=1289835174&sr=1-2 at that price I might give it a go along with the other methods. It's just for cats and is pretty cheap. At least it doesn'...

Re: Cat climbing on my Polytunnel

Hmmm.... Thanks for the replies - some good ideas. I dont think i can do the chicken wire alll the way around as its far too big. It does have a favourite bit to climb so I might put that there. I think I'll try outting tiger balm on it. That'd keep me away. Saw the cat this moring hanging around ne...

Re: Cat climbing on my Polytunnel

Problem is I'm not usually here when the crime is commited. I get told by my father in law. His idea is for it 'disappear'! Problem is it's a really nice cat - and as a dog lover I don't often say that! If I see it I will hosepipe the little bugger though. I had a idea of using chili oil but not too...

Cat climbing on my Polytunnel

Hi, Can anyone help? I have recentley built a polytunnel and the neighbours cat has decided it's a great place to climb and hang out. There are already loads of little holes in it and it's only a month old. I'm starting to have dark thoughts! I had seen some pest control device that emits a high pit...

Re: Tomotoes finished

That's not bad for November though is it? I still have green ones and ripening ones all over the place. Sick to death of them. I also think I have enough to last until next year with no need for tinned tomatoes, and a load of spicy soup to boot. Yay! The downside however is I don't h...

Never tried it or made it. Sounds very interesting...

Did a quick google. Is this anything like you made?

How sustainable is this?
Just wondering how eco friendly this is. Does it have to be mined?

Re: Wild broccoli?

Didn't think there is such as thing as wild brocoli. I thought it was man made - ie bred from a variety of kale.

Take a look here - maybe that's what you got: http://indianapublicmedia.org/amomentof ... -broccoli/

Re: poly tunnel position

It's not that pronounced. I just hate digging. I was just onto a Polytunnel crowd there about the plastic. The advice they gave was to always position 'end on' (gable end) into the wind. They also said that inclines are best length ways rather than width. Typical! They did say if I'm building it mys...

Re: poly tunnel position

Hmmm... It's sideways. I could with a bit of hard work get it level. My soil is full of rocks so it's not an idea that fills me with joy. I'll already be double digging a good bit.

Anyone know the reason why sideways is bad?

Re: poly tunnel position

Hey thanks guys. I can pretty much put it anywhere. It's a blank canvas with no shelter at all. I'm on the west coast of Ireland so we get our fair share of winds. Still a bit unsure of what to do. Am leaning towards 'end on' into the wind. It would blend in the site better. Although there is a slig...
