Re: Jobs
Hi All, So intersting to peek into other people's lives! I'm a herbalist, practice one day a week but rent for the room eats half the money. Also very unpredictable, so I work in the shop too - great fun telling people what herbs to use but also flogging 'natural beauty' stuff. Luckily an ethical co...

Hi Russian Doll, As you may have gathered, this is pretty normal. Most of it is pure exhaustion, plus there is this little creature using up all your energy. Incidentally that can satisfy a lot of your need for physical contact. It's hard to go from being parents to being lovers again. Then your bod...

We're going to need all those old skills, definately time to start learning while we've got electric lights, plenty food etc.

Re: Alternatives to the Mooncup? (a women only thread i guess!)
I just use some red silk scarves, they mould to the body and are suprisingly absorbant. Occasionally have to disappear to do a bit of discreet adjusting, but not often. I wear them to work and everything now. Bonus - soak them in cold water for an hour or two and you have the best plant food EVER es...

Re: Lemon Balm
Makes a lovely bath, just make a strong tea and add or tie up in muslin cloth (or old tights) and tie to the hot tap. Tea to drink is great, Culpeper says it's good for the heart, stomach and head - helps digestion, lifts mood, helsp concentration and it's a brilliant anti-viral for cold sores. The ...

I think that it's a question of slowing down - a good team can do the same job as a tractor, sometimes better (they can get into tighter corners, don't plow up boggy ground the same) but takes longer. But no fumes, free fertilizer and a friendly presence...I'm all for it. Better for the soil as well...

hiya! We're just thinking about getting chooks, promised our son we'd have them for easter so got to get a move on now! I was thinking of starting with a little rabbit run thing while we build a bigger compound, but I'm worried the cat will sit on the top and torment them. As for seeds, start prepar...

Maggie, where are you getting the gum arabic? It's the one thing I don't know where to get, although carrageen/ agar agar can be tricky. I'm getting really irritated by the lack of mention for herbalists - we have this sort of practical knowledge AND the clinical training to treat actual real people...

What do folks think about the flowers programme? I thought the elderflower pastille recipe was good Thing is, it's driving me mad that there's no mention of herbalists. We're the professionals in this area, he's a blooming academic!! Ethnobotonist grrrr, is he insured to treat people, I think not :a...

Hi everyone, I've heard loads about this community but this is the first time I've ever posted on a forum! I'm a practicing herbalist in Scotland, more of a wildcrafter than a gardener (I tend to kill anything the least bit fragile, and it's darn cold up here). No livestock (yet) although now we're ...
