I don't know a great deal about this, but I do know that land reserved for agricultural use is not terribly expensive and I would have thought you would be able to get an acre for a few grand. I'm about to build my first top bar beehives. Does anyone know if I can buy starter colonies and queens to go in them or do I have to attract swarms? The suppliers that I have spoken to only supply the bees with frames, and my local association is quite standard hive orientated.
