Re: Refinished bedside cabinet

Am not pleased about it being Jude The Obscure, though. Philistine. Ahaha! Not to worry, it's an old crappy copy where some of the pages got went and went wrinkly. It's my partner's favourite book, he still has another paperback copy and the lovely 1903 hardback copy I found in charity sh...

Re: Refinished bedside cabinet

Susie: I just bought some wood varnish from the local hardware shop, painted a bit on to the top of the cabinet, then put the paper strip down, then painted more varnish over the top... I didn't really know how successful it would be but I figured I could most likely fix any really bad poo-ups. I've...

Re: Refinished bedside cabinet

Oh brilliant! I'd love to see that! I tried to talk Tom into letting me paper the bathroom with an old road atlas but he said "no", which is reasonable but I am just convinced it would make the most awesome bathroom ever!

Re: Refinished bedside cabinet

Thanks! I did debate putting some sort of knob-pun in there but thought I'd leave the fun for everyone else ;) :D

Refinished bedside cabinet

Just wanted to show a bedside cabinet that I found in the loft recently (it was my partner's house long before it was mine too, so there is loads up there that I have no idea about!). It was scruffy as hell so I repainted it, covered the top with some pages from a water damaged book and replaced the...

Re: what have you cooked today

On my night shift last night I made carrot, asparagus and kidney bean burritos - one of my all time favourites. This evening I made broccoli and spinach pasta which was delicious, and now I have some lemon bars in the oven, about to come out. Tomorrow the cooking plan is spanokopita (DELICIOUS!), ch...

Re: Organic cotton crocheted kisslock coin purse!

Thanks for the lovely comments! I am really pleased with it!
Snapdragon, there are different kinds of frame, one kind is like this and you glue the edge of the piece and push it in, or the kind I used has a metal bit with holes on all around and you sew the piece in, REALLY EASY! :D

Organic cotton crocheted kisslock coin purse

I have been knitting a larger one for what feels like weeks (I am an incredibly slow knitter), so I thought I would get out the cotton I bought when I was in Canada and made a nice quick plain unfussy purse. Then I thought it was too unfussy and needed a flower, so whacked one on hehe! picture here!...

Re: Man eating biscuits

A recipe I was really keen on when I was vegan was a peanut butter and chocolate chip recipe... Best of all is that it uses no flour! So when you've run out of flour, you can still have cookies, which imo is always a good thing! As I recall it was just a cup of sugar, a cup of peanut butter, one mas...

Re: linen hobo bag! Idea yoinked from a $250 bag!

Thank you! The bag was pretty easy to be honest, I was quite surprised by just *how* easy!
As for the whole ladyshape aspect, I don't so much mind being rounder, it's the lumpy bumpyness that I find so disappointing!
Thank you all for the lovely comments though, I really appreciate them!

Little produce carrier bags in the supermarket...

I hate the bloody things! I've not taken them since I was a teenager but piling up apples to weigh them is a bit tedious. When I was in Canada visiting my best friend, I went to my new favourite shops EVER, Grassroots and The Big Carrot, and I bought some reusable mesh produce bags . It's just the s...

Re: linen hobo bag! Idea yoinked from a $250 bag!

Thanks everyone for the lovely comments! I am really pleased with my bag! A day of using it at work has shown me that I like it even more than I was expecting but might also attempt (dun dun derr!) a buttonhole! I think something to have the option of closing it when needs be might be advisable. Nom...

Re: She might be ugly but she is mine

Thanks! I'm very fond! The skirt guards are a very recent addition by me; I used to ride Beryl in a skirt with no problems but Agatha seems rather more keen to shred my clothing, so they were added recently. They are not very handsome I'm afraid, all plasticky and awful but they were the best I coul...
