Well, I found a place selling scythes in France, near Nantes - and they were sold out! Which is great as means they are still popular. Getting one sent though by a friend from there now. Also found the corn sheller in there! 60euros, which is good. They were $180 from Lehmans, excluding VAT and tran...

Scythe

Hope someone in Blighty can help me out here... have just come over to UK form Ghana for a short trip and am looking to get a European Scythe, with bells and whistles - peening kit and stone - but am not here long enough to mailorder one. Was told onthe phone a few days ago I could get one in a John...

Hi paul... ours is a 1.5kw Trace inverter. model DR1524E... no screen. Have you had issues with yours not charging before? Trace are usually pretty sound though... I dunno where our own manual is, but usually manuals have a very helpful troubleshooting page, that for problems other than changing a f...

Ah. Well we started with the batteries, but they are fine. Generator is running ok, 220v AC is what it gives out, up to 19kva. We then use the inverter to convert to 24vDC to charge the batteries, while the genset is running, and it is powering both the house and the batteries (through the inverter)...

You can start your own culture, without spending money too you know... http://www.sunseed.org.uk/page.asp?p=167 . But it does a whole more than just fix nitrogen. It helps to build up resistance to disease and uptake nutrients, increase drought resistance etc. I have even read that you can just get ...

Inverter not charging...

Hmmm... Any of you wise(r) guys got any idea why our inverter is not charging our batteries? We run a generator to charge deep cycle batteries, but the (very good and expensive) inverter is suddenly not charging them... Its a good Trace inverter, but only having power when the generator runs is not ...

Go for it Nev. You should be able to have shrooms in the summer as well, with oyster shrooms, as they grow out here where it gets pretty hot. They are pretty good, as you fill a bag with substrate, pasteurised, mixed with spores, poke holes in the bag and they grow out the sides. Not tried it yet th...

Oil containers as drip irrigation

Hmmm... Here's the deal... I can have access to 1000L containers, that would be IDEAL for a drip irrigation setup I need to sort out... Only thing is, they are old oil containers, off heavy machinery like diggers and stuff. Only used once - as in, the new oil drips out of them into the machines, the...

Hmmm. What about saw dust, what does that contribute to compost? I have found a good source of it the other day... And can I add sawdust straight to potting compost for bulk? Would a fine compost make the drainage worse?

You have to try different ratios of lime to clay i believe, as different clay have different properties... try a small patch first. We have a clay out here though that is so awkward the lime thing apparently doesnt really work.
