Cider
I got a scrumpy recipe form http://www.selfsufficientish.com/ciderish.htm. Reading through it it says to put the lids of lightly for 2 days, then it goes on to assume you have waited for five weeks and then says tighten the lids. Can anyone enlighten me as to whether it's 2 days or 5 weeks that I ha...

Re: Kiwi won't grow
Hi Millymollymandy. We moved the Kiwi about Mayish time can't quite remember may have been a little later. It's just above waist height, I'm 5,5 so hopefully should give you some idea, I'm no good with measurements. Can honestly say that it gets more water when it rains than I give it.

Wormery and cooked leftovers
Hello peeps
Can you put cooked food into a wormery? I've heard of people putting food scraps in a wormery, can this actually be done? If so does that mean you can put other compost material in with it too?

Re: Kiwi won't grow
Hi again folks. If anyone can add to the responses I've already had it will be much appreciated. Checked it again yesterday and the new leaf growth just starts to go brown around the edges, no sign of pests, it just seems to have stopped growing. PLEASE HELP!

My Parsely keeps dying.
I am trying to grow parsley. I have tried to grow it in my garden in a pot..it just dyes after one or two harvests; then I decided to plant some down our allotment in the ground. At first it was doing really well, better than it had done at home in the pot. Now the plant at the allotment has died. ...

Re: Kiwi won't grow
Thank you all for your replies, very helpful. MKJ the Kiwi is self fertile so I kow that's not the problem. The reason why I posted the thread about the Kiwi was more based on the fact that teh symptoms it has now haven't changed much from when it was in the garden ,thus the reason for moving it to...

Kiwi won't grow
We have a kiwi which we have moved to our allotment. It wasn't doing brilliant in our garden but started to improve when moved to the allotment. Then after about 2 or 3 weeks, the new growth started to cult and shrivel up. It just keeps doing the same thing and won't grown even an inch. The leaves a...

Re: How do I make bread?
:salute: Thank you everyone for these great tips. I'll confess I'm not the cook in the house but my husband is so he will be more than grateful for this info. He's thinking of getting a bread maker but I'm sure he'll be convinced not to now. Any suggestions though as to how I grow my own 'flour'?

White Poplar
I have a White Polar tree in my garden. We built a pond and planted it next to it about 4 years ago now. It has grown very fast and stands almost as tall as my house now, which is just your standard 3 bed to give you an idea. It looks beautiful. I've read some info on this tree but not quite sure w...

How do I make bread?
We are growing our own sweetcorn from seed. Can we use this to eventually make our own Bread? I know this sounds silly but I would like to know how to harvest our own wheat in order to make our own flour for bread. Can anyone give some advice and/or give me a link to a website with directions on How...

Re: James Wong and Colds
Thank you. I did wonder about the lenght of simmering, for an hour but then I'm not James Wong and trust he knows best. Yes, perhaps I had on too high a heat for simmering. I'll try it again and leave it on 1! I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks also for the info on bees, interesting. Surely ...

James Wong and Colds
I wonder if anyone can help me? I have planted up a herb garden and decided to buy James Wong's 'Grow Your Own Drugs" book. My daughter and husband have come down with flu/cold like symptoms and I decided to make a concoction from his book. This one was for sore throats. It uses sage leaves and...
