Re: Soap Nuts - tried and tested - and verdicts?
ah yes, they do say half shells on the instructions, I'm not sure if they were half shells or full shells I used. But it did seam odd that would supply half the recommended amount as a sample so my guess is that they were full shells! I hope I'm OK to list the company, but I've just been searching t...

Re: Soap Nuts - tried and tested - and verdicts?
I've used some for the first time today as I received a free sample, I only had 4 & the instructions said to use 6 -8 & I used a few drops of lavender & geranium essential oils in the fabric softener compartment. I am REALLY impressed with the results. The boys clothes, that are always c...

Re: need a good green tomato chutney recipe
I'm sure there's enough vinegar in it to preserve it without sugar. Why not start without sugar & then after it's cooked down to mush just add a little sugar at a time until you get the flavour you want. I'm sure if you use a recipe with raisins & apples in you'll get enough flavour without ...

my only successful squashes were ones from seeds that I saved from a shop bought squash. They germinated better than the packet seeds & they were the only ones to successfully produce a squash

Re: need a good green tomato chutney recipe
turmeric! I'm sure I added turmeric as it had a slight curry flavour to it! I might use that & add ginger & chilli to give it a bit more of a kick! thanks

Re: Another pumpkin thread
well I used the scrapings from the jack-o-lantern & made pumpkin muffins (thanks to whoever it was who posted the recipe on the 101 uses for a pumpkin thread) & they were delicious! They boys loved them too, so even if the carving pumpkins aren't great in a savory dish, add enough sugar &...

need a good green tomato chutney recipe
Last year I made a fantastic green tomato chutney, I took bits & bobs from a number of different recipes I found on line & the end result was a sweet, spicy chutney that got devoured within days (even though it's meant to improve with age). Like an idiot I didn't write down the ingredients I...

Hi, I've had a word with hubby & if they're still available he'd be delighted to take one or all of them depending on whether you have a couple of other people interested (he's scouring Hugh FW's meat book as we speak!) Are you able to store them until Saturday? My email address is jomuscroft@ho...
