Purple Sprouts
Is it too late to pop some purple sprout plants into the veggie patch? my neighbour has some spares in his greenhouse that he gave me. My chooks helped themselves to my established ones the other night

Aww sorry you lost such a gorgeous chook :( Like others have said, chickens are social and need company of other chickens. It’s a great idea to introduce some friends but you have to do it very slowly so will need separate coops/runs. they get used to seeing each other but cant harm, then once any s...

My ex-batt hens have a few handfuls of mixed corn chucked out just before bedtime to scratch about for in the winter but it’s not essential, just makes me feel better

Newbie here
I’m not very self sufficient yet , I keep ex-battery hens and have an allotment. I would love to have a smallholding but that’s something for the future. Until then I have a plentiful supply of fresh free range garden eggs, fresh veggies and plenty of conserves made by myself.
