Re: Any chamomile experts?

Brilliant, thanks. I found 3 small patches but I did take it all - thanks for the advice though, will just take a little in future. I have loads of lemon balm in the garden which I think can be helpful too.

Any chamomile experts?

Was foraging for some chamomile and have collected a fair bit. Thought I'd just double check and came accross for different types, one of which, stinking chamomile, looks to be what I have. Had a bit of a look round but can anyone clarify a few things? Is there an easy to ID it? Also, does the stink...

Re: More chilli discussion

I just planted mine outside yesterday having grown seedlings inside. Any tips? I cant actually even remember what type they were. Will it be too cold, dim and wet for them?

Re: Rowans

I'll probably wait a bit. I thought the freezing wasn't necessary if you were cooking them (as in making jelly).

Re: Cherries?

Cheers, good advice. However, I turned 31 today, got married about 10 days ago and so am looking for a bit of excitement. I think eat first, ask later is more to my needs (not really). Pretty sure they are cherries but will have a look in a decent book.

Cherries?

There seem to be loads of trees around the centre of Leeds (and I was in Ulverstone in The Lakes and saw there too). I just ate a few though and they didn't taste too great and now I'm doubting whther they are cherries. Is there anything that looks like cherries, going from quite bright red into a v...

Re: what do you do with meadowsweet?

I have done a couple of foraging courses with Taste of the wild - thoroughly recommend for anyone near North Yorkshire - and from the website there is: Meadowsweet Pannacotta serves 4 ½ pt double cream ½ pt milk 2 meadowsweet flowerheads 3 tbsps sugar 2 sheets gelatine Heat together the milk and cre...

Re: mint!

Wild mint is corn mint I think. From what you've said it clearly is a mint and I'm also pretty certain there is nothing that looks, smells and has the stem of mint (all mints have square stems) that is poisonous. Eat it - what's the worst that could happen, a slow and painful death?

Re: Garlic Harvest. When to Harvest Garlic?

How can you check they have separated without digging them up? Mine aren't dying off yet but wind has blown a couple right over so thinking of digging those out.

Re: Elderflower season is here!

Next question...have people experimented with using different, healthier sweeteners (I'm thinking honey, unrefined brown sugar or, at totally the other end of the spectrum, artificial sweeteners)?

Ta.

Re: Elderberry

Very distinctive. Will be covered in a buttery white bloom, elderflower, at the moment. Sure someone will give you a better description but basically very easy to ID.

Re: Elderflower season is here!

Do many people make cordial without citric acid? I was thinking it would be ok for a month maybe in the fridge and keepm the rest frozen? Also, what's the easiest way to sterilise plastic bottles?

Cheers
