That's a brilliant tip. I've used honey on wounds too but not recently, it slipped my mind. I eat local honey as a defence against hay fever but hadn't thought about it a more general medicine. One tip I was given when I had a horrible sickness bug one jolly Christmas was to drink diluted apple juic...

I wondered if flannel might be a bit scratchy on soft wee bums? Then again all the towels etc in our house feel like sandpaper! I used fleece squares on DD, just cut up from a huge piece I got for next to nothing somewhere or other. I took great pleasure in using an old pampers wipes box, which I fi...

And our test results...

We had our nuchal translucency scan in Cardiff on Wednesday and thankfully everything is looking okay! Mr Beattie (who is the nicest man) said the nuchal fold looked "tiny" and we could see Brian waving his/her legs around and gulping amniotic fluid. Of course I burst into floods of tears ...

That's absolutely fantastic news, just the best. It sounds like you and Squiglet are in very capable hands - here's hoping that's it for drama and it's a nice uneventful pregnancy from here on in!

Yay for Squiglet!

That's a nice idea, thank you - I love cinnamon. Unfortunately I've not got round to doing anything with them and they will shortly be past all use whatsoever! Work tomorrow morning, DD's sports day in the afternoon, but I might get round to it on Saturday...

I've just got one on Freecycle! I was expecting it to be more of a winter soup/stew type thing than a summer one as we tend to eat a lot of cold stuff in the summer. Hennyway, would dearly love the baked beans recipe (I've only had partial success making my own before) and any other crock pot recipe...

Apple & Pear Spread?

I have some very tired-looking apples and pears and thought I'd try making a Suma-style apple and pear spread. Does anyone have a tried and tested recipe for that sort of thing?

Thanks :flower:

Hi. I know this is a really ancient post but I came across it while looking for oven cleaning info, and though I would add the website where you can buy bicarb in up to 10 kg bags. It's called Summer Naturals (www.summernaturals.co.uk) - go to Bulk Basics. The website says it's closed to new orders ...

I'm going to put two of these methods into practice tonight as my eyes watered just now when I opened the over - yesterday's chicken has left its mark! I usually cover them with foil but I tried basting this time instead, bad move. So, once the sossies are out I'm going to put water and lemon in the...

Hi. I don't know anything about the film beyond that the children have made it (because one of them had an interest in film-making and they won a grant to buy the eqpt) and it's in libraries next week. I'll let you know more when I've seen it - sorry, not very helpful!

There have been some real leg-crossing stories. One of the benefits of this whole thing is that Dd has developed a passion for natural yoghurt with honey and banana and has had it for breakfast the last few days!

The Herefordshire Home Ed group has just made a film, in local libraries from next week, I'm quite excited! I don't think DH will ever change his mind, but I'm going to continue to inform myself about the local Home Ed scene.

I've tended to view cystitis as 'one of those things', it happens now and again, one of the jolly things about being a woman etc etc. But I've heard so many awful stories in the least few days that without (I hope!) sounding all nanny state, I wonder if parents of girls should be made aware how fast...

That's an excellent idea Emma, thank you. Ending up in A&E sounds horrible :? Yoghurt is quietly knitting to itself so I'm hoping I can lessen P's symptoms while we wait to hear whether her sample grew anything interesting.
