Re: Home Schooling
I teach literacy to adults and I agree that the state education system leaves a lot to be desired. However, you have to have a certain standard of education yourself to be able to teach others, especially children. I visibly cringe when I see some of the basic spelling, grammar and punctuation mista...

Re: What colour is your front door?
I don't have a front door (sob, sob), just two planks of wood (called wash boards) that slot in and are padlocked to the sliding hatch. They are varnished wood.

Re: rotary line or washing line?
Pelmetman - Brightlingsea is just up the coast from us - with Mersea Island in between. We often sail up there and stay on a mooring in Pyefleet (don't like paying money on the pontoons!) The flats opposite us do moan about the washing (and smoke from the woodburning chimney) but tough! Crazymaisy -...

Re: rotary line or washing line?
I have the most expensive washing line in the world! Take two bits of 2 x 4 (left over from wheelhouse), attach to stanchions on boat, add washing line (found in shed) and add pegs (also found in shed) so where is the cost you ask? £350 for the drill that OH dropped overboard and straight in to the ...

Re: Have you seen the price of Cardboard Coffins?

As they carried the coffin up the church aisle you could see the body shifting around as though alive! I have made my husband promise that my wicker coffin is lined e...

Re: Growth of raised beds
The condition of my allotment is so bad that I have no option but to use raised beds. It was either take the allotment on offer or wait another two years. Having said that, I like the idea of no dig and no backache. Having stripped out the barge we have a lot of spare wood, so hubby is making me bed...
