Re: composting tea bags

Thomzo - I haven't looked into the question of organic tea bags, it's a possibility. JessieMac - I suspect that ultimately (except perhaps food miles-wise) loose tea is probably the answer. "Slow" tea. I certainly do not relish the idea of ripping open tea bags to avoid putting whatever is...

composting tea bags

I'm not sure whether this topic is best here or in the allotments, etc, forum. I have read that there could be a problem with composting tea bags - "Tea bag paper is related to paper found in milk and coffee filters. It is made with a blend of wood and vegetable fibers. The vegetable fiber is bl...

Re: 'The Edible Garden' starts at 8pm on BBC 2 on April the 7th

It was pretty, and cute, had some points of interest, and I will watch again. But I get the feeling that the idea is, if you want more and want detail, buy the book (inevitably there is/will be a book). I suppose the BBC get the best of both worlds by making a light prog that will have broad appeal ...

Re: Wartime Kitchen and Garden, Yesterday

You've raised some interesting points, seasidegirl - I think that possibly fuel was much cheaper in those days. On the programme I watched the cook made a leek pudding which looked lovely, but ... She seemed to spend hours preparing this dish and I think this included about an hour or more steaming ...

Re: Wartime Kitchen and Garden, Yesterday

Am also very interested in the home front and all related things including my furniture.. ... :( Hi, indy, It's great to hear that someone else is interested in WW2 Home Front. I am in no way, shape or form, a collector, but I have picked up a few actual WW2 publications. One was the 'Stork W...

Re: Wartime Kitchen and Garden, Yesterday

'Wartime Kitchen and Garden' book is out of print, but I got a copy out of the library. It is very interesting and covers more topics than the tv series.

I am interested in WW2 Home Front, and it seems there is so much that is relevant and useful.

Hi, New and Glad To Be Here

Hi,

Looks like a very interesting site.

I would call myself pretty low-ish, ish-wise, but I look forward to reading lots of great stuff (in fact I have already been reading great stuff!)

Wartime Kitchen and Garden, Yesterday

A bit late to post this because I think the series has finished, but on Yesterday digital channel this week there was a repeat of the 1993 series 'Wartime Kitchen and Garden' (originally BBC I think). The series was on Yesterday earlier this year aswell. WW2 cooking and gardening with two people of ...
