KK - how did you get on with purple ukraine? every single tomato on ours split! then went mouldy. cant comment onthe costoluto fiorentino as most of them died before getting fruit!

we use Suma wholefoods wholesaler. they will let you make a wholesale order if you dont have a shop that they supply within a certain distance.

We get loads of these round here, definitely puffballs - I've eaten loads. There are members of the puffball family which aren't edible (but i dont think they're fatal) but they are covered in spikes and smell bad so you probably wouldn't want to eat them anyway!

this is a very interesting post about water mines, im very interested as i also live in Central Portugal (we must have some friends in common somewhere) and take water from a mine but it's all a bit of a mystery to me other than putting the tubo in and taking the water out! also, do you use a filter...

am planning on blackberry jam later. just foraging from brambles all around although it seems all the best ones are right in the middle of all the thorns and its far too hot to be wearing thick 'bramble-proof' (if there is such a thing) clothes! but worth the scratches hopefully.

All these wonderful courgette recipes!! Our current favourite is courgette fritters: dead easy, you just grate a courgette into a bowl, sprinkle it with salt to draw out the liquid and leave it fro 20 mins.
