Re: Green garden waste collections
we have 4 bins: blue for non recyclable, green for packaging/tins/polystyrene, black for paper/cardboard, brown for garden waste and food waste (inc bones etc). It's amazing how much of our rubbish is packaging, it's the only bin which is ever full. The waste bin is the smallest, emptied fortnightly...

Re: Edinburgh?
Dunc - are you forgetting I lived in Abbeyhill? Not 1970s/80s! The section of Abbeyhill down by Holyrood is 70s/80s but Abbeyhill extends to Easter Road. The colonies in Abbeyhill are lovely, close to town, bus routes etc but you have free parking and your own (small) garden! I lived there for 13 ye...

There's a new one starting next month but I'm inpatient! excellent! My task this week is to learn how to wrap on my back with my 13 month old as this is getting silly... http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7268/7817644538_fd4009f760.jpg 26lb, almost 13 month old son sitting on 33wk bump :ico...

Re: For those of you with children in school...
Sounds like you are giving them the perfect environment to learn. In the early years and first few years of primary the focus is supposed to be on learning through play (not filtered through to all teachers though) so providing new experiences and responding positively to questions is absolutely wha...

Re: Views on Fostering
You would've thought they'd have been more positive. Certainly in Scotland they are crying out for foster carers. I have a friend who is a social worker and she has had to send children back to situations she'd rather not as there was nowhere else for the child to go! I've worked with several childr...

Re: Am I deficient in something?
Do you get any spots/rash on your arms/legs around the top as well as the dry skin, kind of like goosebumps? If you do, it may be that you have a mild form of keratosis pilaris so look at your vitamin a and omega 3 intake. If I want to get rid of mine, I have to take so many omega 3 tablets - not f...

Re: Moby carrier
It is really quite dangerous for the reasons Helsbells mentioned and from what I've heard they're supposed to be removing it from their instructions. You can pick up preloved wraps, mei tai's and SSCs from sites such as Natural mamas forum, FB group Slings and things, even gumtree and ebay (be caref...

Re: Having babies
I am 6 months pregnant with our second child, our son is 11 months old, I'm coping with pregnancy with a small baby just but it is exhausting. Your kids are older though and from what my friend has said going from two children to three is much easier than the transition from one to two! Her children...

Re: Does anyone share my parenting philosophy?
Hugs. It's really difficult when everyone else seems to follow a different path in parenting. Our son is 11 months old and we are still baby led. DS cosleeps with DH as I am struggling to sleep with pregnancy, previously we all bedshared. DS tends to sleep on us til we go up to bed although DH is up...

Re: Recession?What recession???
You have my sympathies, I've just spent 3 days dealing with a national chain to replace one of my son's toys which cost over £100 and broke within 6 months (not wear and tear as suggested by one rude sales person who hadn't even seen said toy!) It's a good feeling when you "win" though (a...
