Re: strawberries in hanging baskets?

We grow strawberries and peas in hanging baskets. It saves the dogs assisting in the watering ;)

Re: Golden Virginia seeds.

I'm not sure about the nicotine content of my first batch of leaves, plus they don't give you the hit at the back of the throat that shop bought gives you. I've mixed it with shop bought but still has a slightly 'green' taste to it I shall have to do some more investigation on processing it Got abou...

Re: Golden Virginia seeds.

Hi all, how's it going with the baccy grow ? I've just got through processing 15 leaves. They took ages to dry but then again I'm in a static caravan and not the warmest of things in the world Cut them up with a knife as finely as I could and then used a hand powered kitchen chef type thingy. Seemed...

I think the snus is similar to skoal bandits that we used to have in the UK

They were banned as an increase in mouth cancers was noticed

Re: rethinking allotment layout

We took out first plot over last year and our second earlier this year. First plot has sorta 2 paths and a few beds up and down Second one we've divided into 4 quarters with an apple tree in the centre. Neither is right or wrong. Just how we felt. As long as you get as much into your plot as possibl...

Re: Golden Virginia seeds.

I have given loads away at my plant swap yesterday but still have 6 left for me. They did start growing much quicker once I put them outside in the cold frame although they are still tiny. They do seem to speed up once they get their roots out and about. The ones I planted out seem to have ...

Re: Golden Virginia seeds.

Thank you PBF

How did you or your daughter shred the leaves once harvested and cured ?

I've seen a video on youtube where someone has used a pasta maker. Might have to keep my eyes out for one of them :-)

Re: Golden Virginia seeds.

I've just planted out 30 plants of GV. Spaced about 2' apart and given them a good watering in.

Looking over tinternet they could grow to 6' tall ?

Any feeding required or just let them get on with it ?

Re: Beer and slugs

We grow our peas, strawberries and tumbling toms in hanging baskets. Slugs can't get to them and also it stops the dogs "helping" water them !!!

Dog Poo

Not sure if this has been asked before, I did a little search to no avail

My dog's totally vegetarian.

Could I put his waste onto my horse manure heap ?

Is there anything in his system that might make this a bad idea ?

Just wondering. Does Scotland have a problem with these overnight travellers camps being set up ?
