Re: what are you harvesting?
Hi Becky, If it's any consolation, we didn't get as much out our wee patch as we would have liked. We didn't get any protective covering over our broccoli so the cabbage white butterflies saw to those ,even the red cabbage had caterpillars, and no onions or garlic survived the onion moths! We did ge...

Re: Damsons and Sloes
Morning all, Isn't it brillliant to read what everyone is finding and making. We have several 'buckets ' of various fruits on their way to becoming wine and jars of fruit and jams . You find yourself going what's that bush and can I eat it
Great fun.

hi Zoe, thanks for the info. I've got my eye on one that sounds very similar, as you say just right for a domestic gardens worth.

Re: Drying food
Thanks for the info everyone. Zoe can I ask you which dehydrator you have? I have been looking at various models, like you I haven't had great success with the oven.

Drying food
This question has probably been asked before, but I would like to be able to dehydrate some things and wondered how everyone else goes about it. I am reluctant to use the oven because it seems like a costly way to go. Does anyone use a dehydrator?

Re: family forage
The family forage sounds like it was a great success, my children are grown up now and I wish we had been into foraging when they were little. It's like a treasure hunt isn't it. Me and my OH hope to go and get some sloes and haws at the weekend or one evening if we can dodge the rain! Our neighbour...

Re: having trouble logging on
Hi there' I had trouble yesterday to, but I had put it down to our pooter. The plug on the iron blew that set off the trip switch, then the tv took a huff so I thought it was just one of those days. I didn't mind cos I didn't have to do the ironing!!

hi all
Checking out the courgettes yesterday as you do and noticed that the butternut squash next to it has little fruits coming on it! Chuffed to pieces. I didn't think I was going to get any as I used duff seeds.

wotcha everyone!
Thanks for the info. Graham you've got me thinking, do you know you may have hit the nail on the head I don't think I did use 'proper' seed. If memory serves ( it doesn't usually ! )I had one of those 'I will just try this and see what happens' moments. Now I know :)

Hi
Is anyone growing butternut squashes? Ours are growing away and so far are getting flowers but then the flowers drop off so no actual squashes seem to be coming. I was wondering if there is something we should be doing?
