Thank you for that. Its just for my front and back garden so no stock proof required.
I'd love to have the space for a 'Nut Walk'. Sounds fab but alas my gardening space can't stretch to that.

Re: The Great Mosquito War 2012
Garlic. I take "no-odor" garlic capsules in the summer, 2 or three per day (one with each meal), and when I take them I rarely get bitten. I've heard garlic is an excellent deterrent too. I was always told dark clothes attract them more than light - not sure if this isn't an old wives tal...

Apparently so, I didn't know that either until reading the poster. Maybe the H&S brigade took over, again!Mustardseedmama wrote:I'm confused. Is it actually against the law in the U.K. to feed your animals your kitchen scraps and waste?

Re: Fake meat
It makes me to very sad if this is the only future for food. Then my second thought was - why do 'we' want food to look and taste like fish or meat if it isn't real fish or meat? I'm trying my best to be more veggie but to me that means not eating meat, not eating soya shaped like a sausage! I'd lik...

Cob Nut Sowing
Hello, I was just wondering, do you think it's possible to germinate cob seedlings from shop bought cob nuts? Or do I really need to buy seedlings? Is it possible to get seed cobs like you would potatoes if the shop bought ones aren't viable? I'm just asking because I'd like to create an edible hedg...

6 miles, thats no mean feat there! Nice one
As another non-driver I also do a lot of walking to and from work, although tend to catch the bus as I haven't quite got the stamina to walk both ways!

Hey,I REALLY understand where your coming from, but please don't buy into the idea that everyone that lives in the country is some kind ofmiddle class s------d,in many ways rural poverty is about as bad as it gets. Apologies I wasn't suggesting poverty doesn't affect rural lives as well, I know it d...

Re: The Good Life is rubbish so shop in A5da.
I've never read so much dribble in my entire life and as usual it's always the Daily Mail that supplies it! Stuff and non-sense! 9/10 times it it goning be cheaper to shop at a supermarket because they have the huge buying power but that doesn't mean to say its right or ethical! So for those that ca...

Re: Homemade Shampoo
Thank you for all your replies - I'll do some more digging and see what I can find. My biggest bug bare is that the manufacturers insist on try to pull us in with words like cotton and pineapple etc..; etc. but when you look at the actually ingredients there is nothing in the list to suggest such 'p...

Homemade Shampoo
It was the last straw today - shopping for shampoo when I came accross one that had 'coconut & cotton extracts' :shaking: Who do these companies think they are trying to kid? So then I thought, what about making some home made shampoo and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction ...

I must just say that this is such an inspiring thread. I am sure more and more ppl will become redundant in the next few yrs (I'm included in that as I currently work for a PCT), however its all about attitude and the 'can do' approach both of which I'm using at the moment in preparation of any job ...

Re: ... find out about little producers/farmers?
Also a townie I find it difficult to just go and knock on doors but the idea is good. I wish we were all more community driven but alas just is't so and at the very least I'd feel foolish. I thought there was a website set up for small suppliers/producers - a co-operative enterprise? Not sure of the...
