FYI, Beko's parent company (Koc) is involved in arms manufacture.

Good luck with it!

Re: Should I get a freezer?

Think about a 12- or 24-volt freezer or one that comes complete with battery and solar panel, here:

Re: Compost

BUT! They're not composting like they would outside...there are no worms so everything appears to be rotting rather than composting. I'd suggest that you add more browns than greens. I'm keeping mine well topped up with newspaper strips. You need worms! Just go and dig up a couple of shovels full o...

Re: ...make oat milk? please

Amazing how many people are not aware of the issues with soya! It only takes a google search. That's right, though it took a long time for my DIL to find that soya was the cause of her excess weight and bad skin. Well, at least, once she cut out soya, she slimmed down and her skin became clear agai...

Re: ...make oat milk? please

Yup we have one too. I keep a stock of soya beans for if we run out (Ma and Gal only use Soya milk) and I've also used it for almond milk. Funny, she doesn't seem to bother with soya 'milk' making, probably because she likes the cashew milk. A thought: as the ingredients are all edible, it would ma...

Re: ...make oat milk? please

Something not commonly seen in these isles is a 'milk maker'. I was sick of all the tetrapaks the OH seemed to generate (I don't do 'milk' of any sort but she likes some of the non-dairy ones) so a made a present to her of one such machine. This is the one I got her. A very robust machine and easy t...

Re: Any tips to help back ache.

Really watch your posture. It's amazing how bad your posture can get when you're not aware of it. Also, look at how you sleep. Some sleeping positions put strain on your back. Yeah these are problems for me. :-( Got some Tiger Balm today! If you sleep on your side, try sleeping with a pillow betwee...

Oh, no eggs also makes it cholesterol-free. You can use buckwheat flour, making it gluten-free too. It does stay together and slice really well, honest, try it!

Re: Any tips to help back ache.

Now, this might not help southeast-isher but it's a story that might help someone out there who's suffering from backache. Loads of people couldn't help me with my backache - the only thing that eased it was going swimming. Oh, they could point out the bent spine in an MRI and offer all sorts of stu...

Re: Cycling. Will I get better at it?

Good one, Big Al. I know exactly where you're coming from. You can usually hear the change in the note of the engine behind you, as they decide they're going to overtake and turn left in front of you. Do not let them. If in doubt, stick your arm out to move right if it's safe. If you do cycle regula...

Re: Wood burning cooking heating hot water stove

The following might not suit you, but it's what we do and you may get an idea or two from it. We have an Efel multi-fuel stove (we only ever burn wood though) and it has a heavy hinged 'trivet' type lid which reveals the hot plate. During cold weather, we try to make simple meals which can be cooked...
