Re: Potting on tomatoes
Thanks Tony. I wonder if you could do the same thing with soil heating cables.

Re: Potting on tomatoes
I agree (sort of). It's probably not quite so important now as it is in early spring, but my experience is that it doesn't matter too much what the temperature at the top of the plant is, it's the temperature at the roots that controls the growth of tomatoes (and peppers). You can grow and ripen to...

Re: Potting on tomatoes
They are currently in a cold shaded greenhouse in my back garden. I've made room in the poly tunnel at my allotment so they will move in there. So I think I will go straight to the large pots once I have moved them. I'm looking at some drip irrigation that I can connect up to the water butt in the p...

So one for straight to the big pot and one for a gradual increase in pot size...

Potting on tomatoes
Hi,
I have some tomato seedlings that range between 5" and 8" tall which are in 3.5" pots. I have some 10L pots that I want to put them but I wondering if I should pot them into 6" pots for a few weeks first.
Any suggestions welcome.

Re: Blueberry Bush
Hi Ben, no doubt someone with more experience will be along shortly but it could be chlorosis, in which case it would pay to check the ph of the compost. I’m guessing that during the recent dry warm spell the plant needed watering fairly regular. Maybe acidity has been washed out of the compost. A ...

Blueberry Bush
While watering my blueberry bush today I noticed that some of the leafs are starting to curl, crispy and have brown spots.
I re potted it earlier this year in ericaceous compost and the bush has plenty of fruit.
Any ideas what the problem might be?

Re: How to kill and prepare a chicken
Thanks for the replies everyone. I've watched videos of a few different methods on-line. Would just feel more comfortable having someone to instruct for the first go.

How to kill and prepare a chicken
Hi,
I hope to keep chickens for meat in the future but I want to make sure I'm up to the job of killing them.
Does anyone know of any courses or better still can I visit anyone and have a go? I live in Kent and can travel.

Hello from Kent
Hi my name is Ben. I live in Rochester, Kent, UK with my wife and 3 daughters. I currently share an allotment and dream of owning a smallholding where we'd grow as much of our own fruit and veg and keep pigs and poultry. If there is anyone nearby that would like a hand at weekends, bank holidays etc...
