Yep, mine were crawling with what I now know are thrips. Wish I hadn't brought them into the house as I don't want them infesting my houseplants. I dried the flowers I had left over from winemaking, and obviously they are free of bugs.

Gogi's aren't the easiest plant. I grew about 15 from seed I got from berries bought in T***o, and of those only one has made it to transpant in my garden. I read on an American growers site that they don't like being transplanted and take a while to settle down.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll have a look at the best root stocks for the available space. I'm lucky to live in a area that has some specialist nurseries, can't wait to go shopping!
