Re: Ideas for a money making crop on 3 acres of land please

The small co...

Re: Market Gardens

there's a lady who rents one of the polytunnels at my work to do just that, she works two days a week and occasionaly at the weekends for events such as weddings. It seems to work out okay because she's done it for 2 years.

Re: bring back national service..........

Like I said these schemes already exist, just not very many of them and they're not called national service. For the record, young Germans have to do either military national service or social national service for a year after school. The social type can be done anywhere in the EU and includes volun...

Re: bring back national service..........

I've just moved on to another job from a place that did exactly that. After six years there all I can say is - you can present the material but you cant always make them care. Look up care farming, the Cyrenians Farm, Highfield happy hens and you'll get the idea. I now work on a farm where people ar...

Re: when potatoes are flowering...

I think the flowering stage comes after the plant has invested the optimum amount of energy in the tubers. The flowers being the next reproductive stage where they produce the tomato like fruit. It's always meant the tubers were ready for lifting to me. On commercial, conventional farms they kill of...

Re: Male/Female aphrodisiacs.

That would work, bypassing the smelly breath too which would be a bad side effect for an aphrodisiac.

I think allicin helps promote blood flow...

Re: Is this garlic bolting?

I thought black mould was very rare in the field and occurred when harvesting in damp conditions or improper storage? And I thought it was on the bulbs not the stems? I've seen it start prior to harvesting and I've seen it creep up the stem. Careless weeding can start it off if the roots get distur...
